PvP is pretty easy once you get the gist of each map, some classes are easier to just drop in and kill dudes and if you're not used to raid healing just stick to dps. If its any of the maps with three CTF objectives you just need to make sure your team is holding two of three to win. Lot of people make the mistake to go for all three but unless your team is really dominating you'll get stretched too thin and lose objectives. If you're guarding a point make sure to call out whenever you see enemy players approaching and how many. Huttball just kill everyone, preferably the person with the ball. If you're unlucky enough to get the ball just throw it at the biggest type 4 power tech on your team and hope for the best. CC helps a lot if you have it. The bomb one is going to just be an endless zerg at your objectives. Try your best to kill everyone with aoe to interrupt as many people as possible trying to arm bombs. The Ilum pylon one is fairly straightforward. Protect your one pylon or brawl with people in the middle area. There's like shiny things in the middle you can grab and take back to your pylon for more points. If it is team deathmatch you are going to gently caress up and your team will hate you but those are over in like two minutes so whatever. Either way unless your team is just crushing it there's always going to be one guy losing their poo poo on how terrible everyone is, so you can just ignore them. Their score is almost always really lousy too anyways.

I'd go Armormech for main stat or Armstech for power. Artifice took a huge hit and has nothing really new craftable other than some non-modifiable lightsabers and offhands which are really good but aren't SUPER good. And they require semi-rare mats.

In team death match, just agree with your teammates on which opponent to focus on first (usually the healer). Your opponent will probably anticipate your choice and outclass you miserably but you did your job it's not your fault No I don't have a chip on my shoulder from bad PVP experiences why would you think that

The groups are always really lopsided one way or the other and there's a lot less margin for error then in other matches. Then again like I said they're over in like two minutes and a loss still counts so

What I reccomend is always pick the healing gear while leveling up Unless the healing gear has Alacrity, and the DPS gear doesn't have Accuracy. In a pinch you can always DPS in Healing gear with no accuracy(or you could get a couple of pieces of high accuracy gear to swap out and be fine. Unless you are super hardcore raider in which case you will get whatever gear you want and have 2 optimized sets because gently caress you that's why.

SWTOR PvP is the only MMO PvP I've ever liked. Huttball is the greatest thing ever and I will fight anyone who disagrees. People really can be dicks about it, but they're usually really awful players themselves. Just spit on them or something.

Which wasn't impossible, and I'm guessing gear is a lot less important than knowing your class and knowing the pulls are. What annoys me is the tacticals are hard as poo poo. We did Mandalorian Raiders earlier today and I died like 4 times to trash pulls. Bosses are easy because they have the healing stations but there were some pulls where the level 20 tank couldn't get aggro off my 65 Hatred Assassin for some bizarre reason and I crumpled. It seems tacticals would be easier now with a standard tank, heal, dps setup too rather than the faceroll they were two days ago.

So if I have this right every time you talk to your companions you build influence which helps various stats, like crafting whether or not they approve of what you say and do. BUT... what you say and do affects how much they like you and that stat is hidden, and if they dislike you enough that can eventually have repercussions. So instead of really unshackling you from having to please a companion you want to keep around they just offloaded it to a different number that you can't even see?

Hopefully as players level and improve their gear this gets to be less of a problem; it seems like an odd direction for the game to take, to make the leveling content such that you can do it without ever speaking to a human, and then to make the endgame content hard as poo poo and require people to be really good at their class It's the main thing I was worried about when they announced the "a return to storytelling" direction so hopefully this doesn't stay an issue. Id love to be able to just randomly jump in the GF queue without wanting to kill myself

I'm going to talk about the story in this post but it's NOT SPOILERS so don't worry. One of the things I've really been enjoying about the new story is that it actually cuts away to the bad guys now and then and shows them plotting against you. I guess it tips the balance a little bit from immersive RPG experience to cinematic experience, and that might not be everybody's cup of tea, but I feel like it adds depth, adds to the sense of urgency (with those "oh poo poo they're onto us" moments), and gives you a way better sense of the big picture. Most of all, it makes it feel more like Star Wars. Now that I've seen this in the game, I feel like it's something that was distinctly missing from earlier story arcs, and it could have really added a lot. There were always certain bad guys like the Voidwolf where you're supposed to be in the climax of act 3 and you're still like "who the gently caress is the Voidwolf?" If it had cut away for a few seconds to show him plotting your demise or outmaneuvering you, it would have added some gravitas to the boss fight. The game always had some decent villains *in theory*, but they only ever felt like proper villains if you got to know them a little bit, as people. A lot of them are just names that get muttered when they send thugs after you, and that's just not dramatic. Anyway, this was, to me, the #1 most positive change in terms of overall gameplay. The intro cinematic gave the bad guys an emotional grounding at the start, and the occasional cutaway to their point of view kept them fresh in your mind and completely changed the tone of the player's scenes. Two thumbs way up for this. Unrelated note: I had saved up a ton of companion conversations to do after the level cap went up and the affection system changed. I had several characters I leveled up during 12x where I'd feed a shitload of gifts to all my buddies but never actually talk to them. So yesterday, before I got rolling with the new stuff, I took a few minutes on my chosen character to finish those conversations, and I took the romance path with a companion. (Doc, with a female knight.) Much to my surprise, when Doc wanted to get married, there was an actual wedding ceremony scene with vows and stuff. I don't remember that from any of my previous characters getting "married." I swear I'd done that same companion romance arc before on another character, and the actual wedding was off-screen. Maybe I just have a terrible memory, but was this a new addition? It really has been a while since I bothered to "marry" an NPC, since I don't ever think of it as "canon" for my characters, just an excuse to see more story content.
