Do the legacy vendors still exist on Ilum?

Also I just did the (chapter 9 sidequest bug) quest to recruit Xalek. Went all the way through, definitely didn't pick any of the 'go away' choices, and now he isn't showing up as either a follower or contact. :ughh: I'd really recommend anyone who isn't super hardcore into the game to wait a week or two for the bugs to get patched over. So I started playing this game about two weeks ago with some friends, two of us ended up subscribing which ended up putting us quite a bit ahead level wise. We'd only done one flashpoint previously (the first one) when we were all roughly the same level, today we went to do Hammer Station for the first time and hearing about the level syncing that came with the patch we figured it would be fine.

We had two level 22's and two level 34's and we assumed it would sync us down to level 22 but it ended up putting everyone up to 65 and making all the enemies 65, we ended up completing it fine but were really confused. Is this how the level syncing is suppose to work ?

Also throughout the thing any equipment that dropped was level 61, gear that dropped from bosses were level appropriate however.

I'm sick of my head doing things.
Level bolstering like that has always happened for tactical flashpoints (which the low-level flashpoints are, now).

The basic idea used to be that you had two main types of flashpoints - story mode flashpoints that required a full group including a tank and healer, and tactical flashpoints that didn't require a tank or healer.

The problem with this, obviously, is that tanks and healers are less common than damage dealers, which meant that while leveling you'd often sit in the queue for a long time without ever finding a group. So with the 4.0 patch the story mode flashpoints were all converted into tactical ones, with an option to do them in solo mode (with the goddroid) if you so choose.

I kinda like the change myself, if only because at lower levels healers/tanks in the group finder tended to be horribly unreliable, ungeared, or unwilling to perform the role they queued as.

Oh my god... my friend was leveling a character on Balmorra while me and another guy in our guild were on 65 characters, and he suggested that we go and run Balmorra heroics with him. It would be fast XP for him and decent money/rewards for us. We could not have imagined how right he was. Within about half an hour of minimal effort, he gained at least two full levels and we were all at least 100k richer, with piles of those supplies to turn in for influence back at the Alliance base. The new system let us all teleport from one mission to the next with no downtime. With one godlike companion healing, we were invincible. It was blowing our minds how the credits were stacking up. If one of us did a bonus that the other two didn't have for some reason, we would still all get paid for it, tens of thousands of credits. We were getting tons of social points too, and green loot drops on nearly every pull.

The adventure was cut short by maintenance, but we all agreed that low-level heroics are going to be our new thing. It's way better than dailies. It seems like leveling up a character almost exclusively with heroic missions would be fun, easy, and ludicrously fast, like faster than the 12x boost, as long as you have one or two friends to drag along. Not only that, but this is interesting content that we mostly skipped before. And there are so many of these old heroics, you could go for hours without repeating one. This alone has made the game so much better. We're all chomping at the bit to keep doing heroics together.

Chapter 8 boss fight. question about mechanics, not naming names. Is there a trick to it? Or do you really need to just wail on him forever and ever until he dies, running back and forth between kolto tanks to stay alive? I brute forced it and won, but it felt like I was doing something wrong because it took forever. I clicked all the blue glowy things around the arena, but it didn't seem to do anything.

Am I missing something or was that fight supposed to be that long?

So the best gear in the game comes from nightmare mode OP's right? Does the second best gear come from hard mode? And that level of gear can be crafted with the items from planetary conquest? Is any of this right?

The second tier of crafting is 218, the same as the gear purchased with the former Elite Comms (Glowing cores, I think?) so sounds right.

The romance triggers from the talk in the cantina as you all are relaxing. You have the option to [flirt]talk to someone alone. For me this just pulled away Lana since she'd been the only one I'd flirted with, and I had the option to lock in her romance at that point. I guess if you'd flirted with multiple people you'd have to choose at that point.

I've been leveling a guy mainly through class quest and heroic(2)s. It has been fairly quick even solo, and most of the time I've been able to leave my buddy on dps while sending him in first to draw aggro. The biggest nice thing that you didn't mention was that the reward box gives 2 blues, which keep your gear up to date and let you horde the crystals for when you finish leveling for gear, or to dump into influence on a companion. It is a nice change of pace to have relatively tough enemies, instead of them instantly dying.

I'm probably playing it sub-optimally, but it seems like I'm doing a lot of lightsaber work on my JK. That said, the one-saber attacks look much better than the two-saber attacks. Sometimes it actually looks like it might be a real fight, instead of just a set of animations stapled together.

The basic attack animations are crisp and there are even a few special ones for killing blows, but then the basic attack is so bad you never have a reason to use is after the first planet. What a waste of effort.

It's still pretty long, but you're talking about Arcann right? If you hit the power junctions around the room and pull him close (and stand near him), when he does his AOE lightning attack he'll hit the open power junction and stun himself for a little while. There's like 4 of them around the edges of the platform, and I believe they can be reused after a little while (without breaking them again) if you need.

Basic attack (obsolete)

That aoe spin-kick/twirl (obsolete? idk Force Sweep is better but has cooldown)
Warding Strikes is decent
Passively blocking blasters with a lightsaber (only seems to happen a lot if I'm overlevelled)

Ugly "I don't remember this from the movies" moves:

Guardian Slash (big dumb chop shockwave thing)

Force Sweep

Sorry for the nub question, it's been four years since I've played and I feel like a complete idiot since coming back last week. Now that 12x is gone, I've been trying to thing of fast ways to supplant the XP loss from class missions with super fast activities like tacticals or solo FPs. Are story mode flashpoints gone now? I have this piece gear on a lovely alt on another server, Black Talon Operative's Jacket, that I really want on my current operative, but it appears I can't get it from the Black Talon flashpoint. Solo mode only gives me data crystal things on boss kill and doing it normally by accepting the quest and walking in, I get blue gear that I've never seen before. Also, I can't queue for it as a tactical. Is it now impossible to get that piece? If so, that sucks because it looks awesome.

It is definitely still very easy to level. I started at 55 Tuesday and did the Makeb storyline missions finally and that plus the three or four heroics bumped me up to 62. Now that all quest rewards level sync with you pretty much doing anything is decent exp.

Yeah, I can definitely tell it's slower, but I did a few solo FPs yesterday and they XP came in quickly. I don't have SoR expansion, so the SW I leveled to 55 is sitting there until I get my operative to 55 or when KotFE drops next week. I'll likely use my free boost on a BH because I leveled one to 22 back in vanilla and gave zero shits about the story line. I'll likely buy a few lvl 60 boost on a SW and SI to get the other spec because I am a whore to this game again :negative:

I was duoing Black Talon with my friend and we were wondering all along if we'd somehow wandered in the solo Flashpoint instead of the tactical... Then it gave us credit for the Tactical mission objective that we had. I'm still pretty sure we were in the solo one.

On each planet, the heroics have been gathered and made available on a single terminal usually right outside the spaceport. Those heroics give you a teleporter to instantly reach their starting point, and give you credit right away instead of having to turn it in. They're currently piss easy and give massive exp as well as 2x blue gear rewards. And with level scaling, that means you can just revisit older planet and blow through a pile of heroics in a heartbeat if your even level ones aren't enough to catch you up.

I don't know if they can be accessed from the fleet now or if that's still only the weekly Flashpoint quests.

There's a new terminal next to the cantina on fleet that has every daily Heroic for every planet you've unlocked for selection. At this rate you can probably do 20 heroics a day and not revisit the same planet every three days or so.
