I chose light side and released the ghosts are the end of his story, I imagine if I'd done dark side and kept them Valykorian might be a bit crowded in my head drat it, I was so hoping I'd play it on Adonnta and she's be bickering with too loving many Force ghosts. Still gunna do it, I think.

" They also have a purple display name in your Mission Log. Additional Missions on the critical path will retain the classic gold triangle icon and Mission log text." So just to clarify that, exploration missions are complete garbage, avoid, gold missions MAY be ok, but are probably poo poo, purple missions are all I need to level up. Right?

Purple missions are the ones most pertinent to the capital S storyline, if you do all the missions on a planet you'll still be getting a lot of exp and cash but if you do just the story ones you'll always be at level for the next part of the story

As a DPS Juggernaut in PvP, is there any reason to ever equip a Shield over a Focus? Is stance dancing a thing in this game?

Don't do that, you'll end up doing lovely damage while also being a lovely damage sponge. You'd lose out on all your passive bonuses while not having any of the tank ones to make you not die.

If you're copping too much damage in Juyo form, suggest switching spec so that you're in Shii-Cho and doing sick burst damage instead.

Spikeguy posted:Great. I am one of those lowly folks who wants to play the game by themselves. I used to dream of maybe one day when the servers get shutdown, they just convert the game to a singleplayer thing as a farewell. But if they make leveling easier, me able to make every companion a heal bot and enemies less of bullet spunges then it sounds like I'll be playing more. With the change of companion gear only being about aesthetics rather than stats, and the changes allowing companions to be tank, dps, or healing, it's exactly the way you want it to play out right now. Previous to this, even my healing companions were fairly terrible at keeping my squishy Sentinel/Marauder rear end alive let alone keep themselves alive, but now they're tanky and can keep me topped off at 100% all the time. It's fantastic. It's the perfect time to give this a go and enjoy the stories. Jump in and revel in the dark side (or passively contemplate the light side, if that's your sort of thing).

From what I've seen, pretty much every mission grants the same amount (or at least, a similar amount) of experience. So exploration missions aren't garbage, it's just that the curve has been adjusted so you don't have to do them.

Or is your shield rating going to be so poo poo from the DPS gear that it won't matter that you're wearing a Focus? The main thing about switching to Tank Stance while specced DPS is that it gives you access to Guard. 50% damage reduction is huge and can single-handedly turn the tide of a close battle in a pinch. No need to swap in a shield since redirected damage can't be shielded anyways. Being specced DPS and swapping out to Tank gear and stance is definitely a strategy in Solo Ranked where matchmaking exists. I used it to great effect last season to become the third highest Ranked player in the world at one point. PT's (what I used) are much better suited for it though since they don't rely on procs the way Sins and Juggs do however. Speccing Tank while using a shield and otherwise DPS gear is viable in regs as well. Gear is cheap so experimenting is easy enough. Rage has way less survivability than Vengeance so I'm not sure why this would be a strategy.

Eimi posted:If playing a LS Jedi was anywhere near as engaging as LS war, I'd have never dared try Imp side. (This is before I joined up with TNG) Honestly LS War is the good guy story I wanted in a Star Wars game and it did everything I wanted from a typical Jedi story, better than the Jedi. The republic storylines seem to expect you to be good, so by going light side you're just doing what's expected of you, while if you go dark side, everyone will be baffled as to why you're being a jerk, including most of your companions, and no one will like you. While in the empire you're expected to be bad, so if you go light side there's the feeling that you're going against the grain and doing your own thing, while if you go dark side, you're not punished since everyone expects you to be a dick, and there's plenty of companions that root for you as you electrocute dudes.

Some of the side missions are interestingly written, though like, only a slim handful will ever get referenced after doing them. The good ones will usually provide some insight into what going on in the area while the bad ones are like the one where a sith pulls my LS BH aside and goes, "you! Alien! Help me blow up this hospital full of sick orphans!"

Are companions just as insane at max level as they are while leveling? I haven't used a defensive cooldown since Tuesday. I just faceroll through all leveling content and I'm wondering if it balances out at 65 or did they actually just intend for you to be invincible with a companion?

Yeah but hell take Mass Effect. You are expected to be a good guy there too, and when you are its engaging as well. BW can totally make just general good guy fun and engaging, poo poo that's their formula so far. It's so odd to me how they dropped the ball pub side. As for JK vs SW that's more specific in how the stories are set up. JK you are the chosen one super fast and you just go run around doing chosen one things. You are never a padawan, you never even really know your master. You never learn about the Force, the most interesting part of Star Wars. Hell SW Tatooine is all about learning about the Force and meeting a master Yoda type Jedi. If you're DS you just kill him, but if you're LS you learn from him some too. It's great. There's none of that earning your power JK side, its just crisis after crisis, showing how the Republic is really dumb because all their poo poo keeps getting used against them. Also personally the fem JK voice does not work at all until SoR content where she sort of gets a handle on the character.

I think I made a mistake by kneeling on a non-evil character. Valkorian acted like I agreed to some sort of lofty ambition by doing so for most of the game when really it was just to save my own rear end, although I did use his power when it was offered in order to even the odds...hm.

I didn't manage to get very far with JK. I tried being evil and being good and enjoyed neither. I think I may have been too hung up on the choice of alignment to notice the issues with the storyline. I'm nearing the end with a mostly DS fem SW, and enjoying it very much. I'll probably start a Consular after I'm done with the SW and see how that goes. So, for anyone leveling up a new character, a warning: If a quest sends you back to an earlier location, the instanced stuff will also be downleveled to the current planet; I just did Qyzen's companion quests, and the instanced area for the last one on Taris had all the mobs at level 22. ...This may imply hilarious results when you have to go back to Korriban for a fight as a sith.
