Aw man, we were literally under the ladder on a nightmare sewers run when the backend cut out. On the plus side, we managed this (totally intentional ) trickshot with bonus ragdoll shenanigans: http://gfycat.com/SpottedTeemingBluetonguelizard

Bolt staff is good if you get some good upgrades on it. My blue one has a 4.5% chance to heal on hit, and 8.5% chance to knockback on hit, which makes the machinegun mode a big plus. It's also great for single dps on the rat ogre after popping a strength potion. The secondary fire is good for taking out specials, but it would be nice if it zoomed in a bit.

I just prefer aoe burn everything staffs which is why im deep in love with the conflagration staff. I like the fireball one (don't remember the name) but bolt has such a long charge-up for one shot and I have weird issues with the conflagration one because trying to aim a circle on a plane that is parallel to your view is difficult to get right. The beam staff is awesome for fire shotgun though

Looks like you have to complete levels before getting the new ones... Just logged on and there are 5, including the four we had before. I never finished supply and demand before the game launched, botting it now.

They also have a tendency to have wide arcs when you shoot them which becomes a huge problem in nightmare. Hitting all 3 of your teammates because the arrow decided to go a round about way to your target really sucks. Learn to love the standard longbow

Bolt staves are poo poo imo. Sacrificing one of the unique features of Bright Wizards - targetable ranged aoe - to one-shot elites is a bad trade-off, considering handguns do that job as well as bolt staves. Rather have Soldier/Elf snipe a runner and keep swinging over my dorf's head while the wizard goes mad with aoes.

For all the lovely people that play elfs, if you or know a player that knows what they are doing it makes a run so much easier. When I play elf I always have the most kills and highest damage because the Elf is the best damagever dealer in the game. Last run on nightmare I had over 550 kills with 5.7k damage. The run was so smooth too since longbow is great at killing pack masters that are hidden in a horde.

I pretty much got tired of L4D after finishing most of the campaigns once or twice. There wasn't much of a sense of variety to it and zombies get old, fast.

As the difficulty levels went up, the game changed. It became more about strategic positioning, conserving health, and NOT shooting your teammates. I see Vermintide very much becoming the same, where tactical thinking trumps # of kills and conserving health via looking out for each other and not doing stupid risky poo poo.

The most important part of the release: You can hit the chandelier in the tavern now. E: V - Weird, during beta I could jump into it to move it but several of us were testing in a game and couldn't move it with melee or ranged. EE: And now I can't move it by jumping into it. You could always hit the chandelier in the tavern. If you didn't spend at least 3 hours total playtime during beta smacking the tavern chandelier and sausage around, then I don't know what you're doing with your life and want no part of it.

The machine gun fire for the bolt staff is your aoe while the bolts are for long range elimination. They're faster and stronger than every other ranged weapon and you can one shot most specials without fully charging the bolt. The key to the bolt staff is just good accuracy and knowing you don't need to form a full bolt to shoot one. As soon as the animation changes you can toss a bolt which speeds up firing speed radically. It can decimate a stormvermin squad before they come close if you shoot fast enough. Plus it is perfectly accurate.

Sex Robot posted:Despite the failings of this game people are going to play the poo poo out of it because it has one thing left4dead doesn't. Not sure if you are giving credit where credit is due. Vermintide a Good Game, and Fatshark aren't even charging $60 for it. The melee focus of this game is a big deal to me. Left 4 Dead got pretty old for me once I went through the campaigns once or twice, because there are only so many ways I wanted to shoot guns at zombies. Having to get into the horde and get dirty makes me like this game much more. It makes me want to practice and get better at the combat. The class system makes tactical decisions more interesting too. I have as many hours logged on the beta of this game as I do on L4D2. Perhaps it's just a matter of taste. You don't seem to like it, and that's OK.

Anyone else have a problem where their tome disappears when they pick up a healing item? Was playing Tower of Magnus and I picked up a healing item from the stand in the square. When I go to get the tome it disappeared. No other player picked it up either. Really weird. Never had that happen to me before.

Finding a loot die does the same but upgrades it to 3 in 6, while a grimoire gives you a 6 in 6 chance, i.e. a guaranteed success.
