The best part is going thru a suburb and seeing a driveway with dad's Lexus, mom's Infiniti and juniors F350 with smoke stack and rebel flag flying in the bed.

Prescribed burns own, I used to take part in them when I worked for a conservation agency. This weekend in the town I went to high school in is their annual Pumpkin festival. Children of all ages (with massive amounts of help from their parents') decorate pumpkins, which are then displayed on the courthouse lawn. The parade is the next morning, featuring high school bands and the Jesse White tumblers (only bleks there lol). No alcohol is sold, no pumpkin is eaten (harvest festival?), although it acts as an annoying all classes high school reunion. gently caress the Midwest.

Lighthouses. There are places you can walk around and pick up fossils. A lot of the nature is up north, though, and you probably don't want to go there this time of year. But if you want to go swimming in a lake, try Van Buren State Park, the nuclear plant will heat up the water for you. Fewer crazy people than the South, but I'm probably biased.
