1. Tom Brady +7.3
2. Jameis Winston +5.0
3. Sam Bradford +3.2
4. Derek Carr +3.2
5. Matt Ryan +2.6

How the gently caress is Matt Ryan in the top 5 graded QB's this week? Surely this is one of those "so far this season" grades, but EVEN THEN how the gently caress is Matt Ryan still positively graded?

As has been stated, PFF's QB grades are pretty worthless.

I really only pay attention to DL/OL grades.

I mean, what is the best way to evaluate quarterback right now. Are we on the DVOA train for that? The Dilfer rating? Or should we just go back to the good old-fashioned quarterback rating?

This x1000.

Besides that maybe for figuring out what DBs are pretty good, but not Sherman/Revis/Talib caliber, but even then that is more their "Was thrown at x times for y yards" justification that they do.

I don't even know if that's safe; how much longer are Bryant and Romo out? I still think the whole division is a total crapshoot if they're back within the next few weeks.

Except even those are garbage, because the graders don't know the assignments and don't distinguish between "got blown up" and "looked awkward trying to save someone else's bacon". And a center who does a good/bad job adjusting the blocking schemes will make the whole line look better/worse and there's no way to give them the proper marginal credit for that. I mean, give them credit for trying but they should be grouping into categories like "awful, bad, ????, good, great", with probably 2/3rds of players in the ???? bucket instead of their faux-precise numerical stuff.

ETA: And even then it's a grade within the scheme they're playing; I dunno, PFF numbers just bug me I guess.

I'm pretty sure prior to Tannehill breaking the record for consecutive completions the previous record holder was Super Bowl Champion David Carr, unless someone broke it again before yesterday

e: he tied mark brunell's record of 22. Both did it in 2006.

Plus, PFF's success made Aaron Schatz super jealous and that alone is worth it because seeing Schatz get pissy is the best
