There's also a terminal on the fleet (and one on Odessen too) which lists every available Heroic for every planet; so if you feel like grinding, you can just load up in one spot and quick travel away. It's nice.

I hope they never nerf it to the point where heroics are unsoloable, because it's nice to have as an option. I think the current system, where you can do it by yourself, or bring a friend with you for bonuses is a nice one; it encourages grouping but doesn't demand it in case you feel like being antisocial or going at your own pace.

Right now it's perfect. Most of the Heroics CAN be solod but it's much faster to do with two people, the XP is better, the rewards are better, but the option IS there to solo if you want to take longer and get less money and XP.

Edit whoops meant 90 days sub

Yep, with the xp bonus subscribers get 1-50 is much faster than it was at launch. If you want to skip that content though and go right into KOTFE you get a free instant level 60 for being a subscriber

Not sure what the xp bonus is but for credit rewards when a group mate finishes a bonus objectives you get the same tears they do. So if the bonus gives you 12k credits, you'll get 24k credits if you duo, 36k if you have 3 people, and 48k with 4

And trooper's relatively boring compared to the bounty hunter (animations-wise)!

You're playing correctly then! Worry about rotations later. Scoundrel is really fun in PvP if you enjoy that. Scrapper is a burst spec while Ruffian is a DoT spec.

Which spec did you pick? If it's scrapper, it basically boils down to "use backblast & bludgeon to build upperhand stacks, use sucker punch to spend them"

That's the basic idea; there's nuance to getting the most out of it and a bunch of little procs and debuffs that you need to pay attention to, but that's the overall idea.

It's way easier than it used to be, when you had to manually load flechette rounds, they simplified the class significantly.

One important thing to note about playing a stealth class solo is that if you use your emergency "get out of combat free" stealth ability, it resets the fight! So if you're in the last phases of a long boss fight, resist the urge to use it because you will have to start over again; however, any adds or little bitches you managed to actually kill will stay dead, so it's useful for that at least.

Also don't neglect shield probe, because it has a very short cooldown and can be up pretty much most of the time, making you a good bit more survivable.

Do we actually get to make interesting choices at any point re: combat proficiencies in this game? Feels like once you choose your class and discipline it's just a flat road of boring "using x reduces cooldown of y & z by 2 seconds" bullshit it's near impossible to notice in action. Then check a list online to see which mods are objectively the best.

Don't see myself sticking with this beyond the first month. No sense of creating a character through a build so far.

Build diversity is a lie (like peace).

It's really only something you see in ARPGs these days and even then when you look at the hardest content, it comes down to a handful of optimal builds. Most MMOs these days just ditch the pretense of illusion of choice and give you a few simple binary choice for your character. There was no point to the talent trees in SWTOR or WOW.

If you start from the premise of no build diversity, then you can focus on tuning encounters more intelligently towards the limited builds that do exist. This is what FFXIV does with a lot of success, though they're also well-served by the fact that characters can switch to any class on the fly.

As for SWTOR, even where you do have choice, utility points, there are optimal choices based on whether you PVE or PVP. Whether or not they'll take advantage of all the streamlining to create nicely tuned raid encounters is an open question but I suspect that's not really the direction the game is headed.

I will say that I think this game would benefit greatly from being able to one-button respec with stored keybinds and gearsets though.

A thousand times this. Also utility selections should be part of this one click, too. Waffledoodle if you do this you'll make at least two goons very very happy. FF14 has spoiled me on spec-swapping.

Getting rid of the vanilla WoW talent system was a good choice, as is moving to focus more on story than on endgame ops and poo poo.

Perusing the general forums it seems like the people most unhappy with the Xpack are the people who basically wanted a shittier version of WoW but with glowsticks and a John Williams soundtrack.

So apparently there's a bug where you can get stuck and unable to progress on Chapter VII. I need to access a terminal, but the terminal can't be clicked, many other people were being affected, there was a crowd of about 20 folks at the terminal, non of us able to access it.

I don't suppose anyone has experienced it and found a workaround? On the forums Bioware just say they're "looking into it".

They just posted that a fix for that will go live later today, no downtime but you probably will have to quit and restart the game.

E: Seems the patch from today didn't take for some folks which is why this is happening.

I think those are the only ones where order matters beyond the Forged Alliances/Shadow of Revan flashpoints you should have done leveling up. If you haven't done them, also do Taral V/Boarding Party -> Maelstrom Prison/The Foundry.
