That said, the Foreign Relations Chair, Bob Corker, just said he opposes it. McCain has also said he's unhappy that there's not more defense spending in it (because of course).

My argument is that "attempting to shift the establishment towards ideological purity" only matters if your establishment controls things. When your party isn't in power the ideological shift of your establishment won't effect the policy enacted.
