Scarf posted:Had a buddy who played pool professionally for a while, he said he loved playing against guys like this. They're so easy to put on tilt, and then you pretty much will always win. According to him, the best way to piss them off is to just look like you're having a good time and not taking it at all seriously. Agreed. A friend and I in college used to do a bit where we'd play pool 2 on one with the one being the mark. I'd play terribly (which I do in reality) and my buddy played middling and goofing off. We'd only play for who pays for the game. Then I'd bow out to use the john or something and my friend and the other guy would play for drinks or money instead and my friend would mop the floor with him. We did a similar thing with darts to pick up chicks but I played the ringer in that I'm pretty good and he would sometimes score an evening out with the whole "arm around, hand holding teaching thing" that you see in movies. I could let her win and get him a chance for a phone number. I was engaged so I didn't mind playing wingman. One time though, for the schadenfreude, we tried the pool version with a dude that had just walked in the bar. We paid, he won the coin toss and he broke... We didn't even get a play. He cleared the table from the break, said "Thanks for the game", and left. It was very surreal. Maybe it was God saying, "Knock it off".

Yeah, that how it was with my friend. I made the mistake one night of asking him to play "for real" against me. He said for me to break, otherwise I'd never get a shot. He was right.

Anyone following the Arkham Knight debacle? In short: WB Games/Rocksteady, makers of the previous Arkham games, released the PC version of Arkham Night four months ago. The game featured video stuttering, slowdowns, crashing, and every indictation of a badly ported PC release. It was so bad that Steam started issuing refunds to players. WB/Rocksteady pull the game from Steam and promise to fix it. Fast-forward to last night when the game went live again on Steam. While it isn't as bad as before, the game is still plagued by slowdowns, video stuttering, and crashing. The official patch notes suggest Windows 7 users periodically restart the game to avoid crashing. They also suggest Windows 10 users have 12GB of RAM installed. All this while Valve marked all the previous bad reviews on Steam as "pre-release" once the patch went live. Of course, that wasn't the story behind those reviews and Valve has removed the tags. All this is happening while the console versions worked fine from Day 1 and there were no issues surrounding previous PC-ports of Arkham games. WB Games/Rocksteady just completely hosed up. Thwomp posted:Anyone following the Arkham Knight debacle? It should be mentioned that in order to make good with the fans who have stuck by with the lovely game, WB and Rocksteady are going to give away free games. They are giving away the first 3 games in the series and lovely portable game to the diehards who probably own those games already and are frequently on sale for $5. And two special TF2 hats.

And to top it off, IIRC the literally one video card at all that didn't horribly stutter and crash was not the one they had a massive promotion with. Nvidia were not exactly happy with them.

It's a good thing that critically the game is between a shrug and a "meh" or else PC gamers would really be missing out.
