quote:

Trevor Noah, the South African comedian who recently replaced Jon Stewart as presenter of The Daily Show, is a huge fan of football. “I love the game so much,” he tells me. But asking him who he supports elicits an unusual response. “I have no team that I support. I’ve never fundamentally understood that concept because I fall in love with players and then they leave and I’m still now meant to be indebted to the team? That doesn’t make sense because the players are the team. Where Zinedine Zidane went, I followed him. Where Thierry Henry went, I followed him. I’m loving [Anthony] Martial at Manchester United, I still love Luis Suarez regardless of everything. Sometimes people lose out because they’re so focused on hating the opposing team that they forget to enjoy and applaud the beauty and spectacle of the game.”

Noah’s approach to the beautiful game is illuminating since it illustrates both his dislike of partisanship and his optimistic outlook

"Putting innuendo; and jokes aside; we will never know how much Evas departure has impacted on the psyche of the players. Ok she had no impact on the team or tactics; but I think she held a certain hold over them and they miss her. To them its probably along the lines of a breavement; that and the departure of Cech. Petr was a commanding figure on and off the field. I think some might need councilling daft as it sounds"

Slightly off topic but all the stories about Sunderland's playing staff and their boozy weekends, prima donna attitudes and latent lack of professionalism got me wondering - who do we reckon the most professional, well behaved team in the league is?

I have to say none of my lot strike me as big party boys - most of them (Skrtel, Sakho, Mignolet, Lucas, Clyne etc etc) have families, while Ibe seems like the type who loves his video games, Moreno and Coutinho both seem like 12 year olds still blissfully innocent of the adult world, and Sturridge and Can are both pretty religious.

However, for my money and with nods to Southampton and Spurs I'd have to say Swansea's lads more than anyone else definitely give the impression that they're all tucked up in bed by 10pm every night without fail.

Potato Count: 2 small potatoes
Great question. I bet every team has at least a few ones wot love a drink. For Swansea my guesses would be Shelvey, Sigurđsson and Fabiański.

My team would be Watford - few Brits and loads of muzzies.
