The problem seriously is that Bush was horrible, and Obama made everything worse somehow. Trump and Carson represent real alternatives to the direction America has been on, thus all the GOP base support. The Dems forced out everyone who would criticize the Establishment itself, which is totally driven by a pro-corporate agenda. Bernie Sanders seems like he's been handed a script to appeal to disillusioned Obama supporters to keep em all voting for Hillary in the general as a scam perpetuated by "the media" aka Wall Mart Street fuckers

Here are what Trump's numbers were this week before everyone thought he won the debate tonight: I think it might be happening you guys. Looks like a lot of the Trumpites have Carson as their second choice, so good luck avoiding the crazy GOP.

I'm pretty certain those numbers were "who do you think won the debate?" "who do you think was the best candidate?" not a straight up poll of who they'd vote for. Sorry I didn't make that clearer. e: Still terrible loving news for jeb lol his performance was terrible The Saurus has issued a correction as of 07:27 on Oct 30, 2015 |

I think Trump's performance in online polls after the debate is good for the same reason Bernie's was, that he has a disproportionate number of internet-savvy supporters.

That's not how legitimate online polling works. It isn't 2000 anymore, the internet population is not significantly different than the overall and you can make the necessary corrections regardless to get a representative sample. Bernies just had either a poor methodology or it was just an outlier result from sampling error. Maybe Trumps does too but it has nothing to do with scientific internet polling in general.

"Who won the debate" polls are stupid in general anyway, all that matters is what polling looks like in the early states/nationally 1-2 weeks after it happens. Who won polls are subject to all sorts of noise, media narratives and so on.

There's a difference between a scientific Internet poll by, say, YouGov or Google Consumer Surveys, where they specifically seek out a representative or close-to-representative weighted sample, and a self-selected poll like Breitbart's or any Facebook poll where anyone who clicks a link (probably shared on social media) can vote.

I figured at this point goons would realize "scientific polling" only means that the questions were worded to get a specific result while maintaining the appearance of scientific rigor, not that the surveyors take a general questions and then apply an even handed scientific approach to acquiring responses.
