Pomp posted:Avoiding spoilers, Bloodborne ramps up the weird poo poo real fast Well it opens with a blood transfusion in a dank murky clinic, throws you into a fever dream where everything wants to kill you, you immediately die and then get resurrected in a dream world. Also item descriptions mention Old Ones and stuff all the time. That isn't much of a base line in terms of weird poo poo. That said, I'm only just past the first actual boss, so I'm curious as to how much more weird poo poo there will be.

I bought LBP3 at launch and played it couch coop with two friends and lots of beer. It was a good time, we only hit a couple minor bugs which were more funny than annoying. I haven't played it since. I would guess the online levels are nothing special. If you have friends you want to play it with and it's cheap, it's worth picking up, but it's not a must-own title.

I don't consider any of the LBP games worth their full price if you're not interested in the creation aspect.

I played a few hours of Ys because I was in the mood for an actiony rpg and it was kind of mindless and shallow but unfortunately it's an anime so I quickly realised that the story will always be literal dog poo poo written in thousands of skippable text boxes and every character is annoying and unlikeable so my sage advice is never consume anime, namaste

Falcom haven't released any more details or mentioned the game since then sadly. It's unlikely that it's vapourware, possibly yet another Japanese company caught on the hop when making a game for a modern HD console, though they should have a step up since Falcom is one of the few JP companies that specialised in PC games for a while. They're a relatively small company and have only just released Tokyo Xanadu so hopefully we should get some news soon.

Yeah memories. I started skipping the text but ended up getting lost and gave up. The few boss fights I encountered were actually the highlight of the game. The fighting was fun enough, but yeah I just don't really like having a party of unlikeable characters following me around with styles I dont like but am arbitrarily forced to use anyway to progress. I might go give it another chance.

NESguerilla posted:Then the second boss made me cry out loud. Yeah no kidding. I had every other fight in the game (except for some of the chalice dungeon stuff) down easy before I finally went back to beat that one. Speaking of which, considering how big and intricate some of the fights are, it still kind of blows my mind that like over half of the boss fights in Bloodborne are optional (even if you don't count chalice fights I'm pretty sure?) -- like almost everyone refers to Cleric Beast as the "first boss" still when in fact it's just that thanks to the level design you're pretty likely to stumble upon him first if you follow the obvious paths; he's totally optional and beating him doesn't really reward you with much more than a sense of accomplishment & an additional warp point. And on another note as far as Bloodborne goes & the upcoming DLC, we still don't know where & when you'll access the new area(s) in the game, right?? My only save file is right at the beginning of a NG+ run and I'm not sure if I should get to the end before it releases or just start a new character or what. I'm not sure exactly how it will be integrated with the rest of the game; I read something about some changes to the main game coming with the DLC & new NPC summons and stuff but I'm still not certain if the changes are big enough to warrant doing a whole new playthrough when it comes out

My main DS1 character was on NG7 when AotA came out. Manus was fun. They haven't explicitly stated when you can access the dlc, but various interviews have said "at a certain part of the story" which pretty much means Rom. That's a good mid point. I've been playing a lot of BB lately, and I wouldn't worry about being in NG+ too much. Enemies have a health increase but it's not that bad, and I barely noticed it after I got out of the first area. The critical path to Rom is also super short. If you're not hunting for loot (and why would you, there's almost no good loot in the game except upgrade mats, and you can buy those) then you can make it there in an hour or two. I was worried the Woods would take me forever, but I just ran past everything and unlocked the shortcuts and was done in maybe 15 minutes.

It has boss fights that are way more frenetic and exciting than Celceta's, and no party system, you play as Adol and that's it.

This makes the most sense too since on the way to the academy through the woods and the clinic there's a massive number of doors and dead ends that are really obvious "an area was going to be here but we ran out of time" points.

There's that hatch inside the academy as well, which really looks like other hatches that take you to various places. I'm guessing it's just going to be an item you get at some point that teleports you to another place/time like AotA did, though. It probably won't be connected to the main world.

On Amazon, there is currently a PS4 bundle that is PS4 system + Uncharted Collection + Destiny: The Taken Thing for $349.99, i.e. the same price as the normal Uncharted bundle with Destiny bundled in. Dunno if black friday sales will end up being cheaper, but probably since I just bought it.

Yeah, the camera is that game's biggest flaw. It doesn't like bigger bosses at all. Ebrietas was a boss that consistently gave me trouble while every other bosses I managed to get its pattern down and defeat them with relative ease, even when fighting with the camera to find that sweet spot.

For Ebrietas, Paarl, and Amygdala the camera is terrible and learning how to work around it is a big part of beating those fights.
