Next question. I have queued for Galactic Starfighter a few times but have yet to get put in a match. Does nobody play it? I wanted to check it out...

Peak hours have matches popping pretty quickly usually. Big part of it is KotFE just came out so a lot of people are doing that right now.

I've heard that you should click Queue Group regardless of whether or not you're in a group, and the queues will pop. This is a totally anecdotal story that I heard from my friend so I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Normally yes but the 208 new pvp gear seems identical to the 208 PvE gear.

When it was introduced Expertise was a part of the stat budget but that went away in 2.0.

With PvP gear is Expertise ignored in the stat budget? If I have a piece of 204 rated pvp gear will it be greatly inferior to a piece of 204 pve gear outside of pvp?

PvE gear has a higher power curve than PvP gear so as the expansion goes on the difference between top end PvE and PvP gear will get bigger and bigger. Basically 208 augmented PvP gear is perfectly fine for FP's and SM Ops provided you know your business...if you're DPS you really should have 110% ACC for PvE but zero ACC for PvP though.

Didn't know that, interesting. Do the set bonuses mix? Like, if you have 3 pvp armorings and 3 PvE do you get the 6 piece?

Quick math tells me around 112k should be the upper limit if you used THORN relics, a command stim, and command augments.

maybe no one else will care about this but I thought it was interesting, I was frustrated by the really bad framerate in some areas, mainly foresty type areas, so I started testing settings and seeing what happened

oddly enough, it looks like the shadow maps are 100% the root of the framerate issues, because turning them off and increasing my resolution to 3840x2160 had basically no effect on my framerate (this is on a 970 OCed to 1430mhz, also odd is GPU usage drops when the framerate drops with shadow maps on)

but even when you've got a solid 60 and v-sync on, it still judders like crazy, and surprise surprise turns out the game has terrible frame pacing so even when you have a solid 60 it still feels super weird and unsmooth

so yeah I've found the perfect settings are to have shadow cascades on medium since that reduces the amount of shadow maps, and most importantly run rivatuner statistics server in the background with the framerate limited to 60 since that fixes the frame pacing

you'll still get framerate drops but it's smooth af 99% of the time

Huh, I guess 4.0 cut some fluff out of the planet story arcs; the Czerka base at the end of the Tatooine one is much, much smaller now. Also the multi-stage bonus quest attached to it is gone too but whatever

Whoa, that's interesting, I had no idea they messed with the actual layouts of anything. I always kinda liked that place, even though it takes a while to get through it. Had kind of a Mass Effect vibe.

Oh that's actually kind of interesting and reassuring, seeing how that planetary chain was incredibly obnoxious. That base at the end was a fairly long slog.

Wonder what else may have been tweaked.

yeah unfortunately there's no much you can do about combat framerate drops, the engine just doesn't like alpha transparancies it looks like

it's probably a pipedream to expect EA to fix those poorly optimised shadow maps too

but I'm glad my sperging helped someone, it's frustrating how common frame pacing issues are with PC games since it's by far the most important aspect of perceived smoothness

Well, it wasn't this bad previously. The last time I played was during the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion and I don't remember having this issue in Warzones.

But you've definitely helped me out in general. Questing and navigating planets is much easier on my eyes.

The developers made crystal relics terrible as part of their quest to make non-common crystals worthless. You'll be better off picking up the PvP relics or buying Ruusan relics off of the GTN. Regardless of how you get your relics, Serendipitous Assault and Focus Retribution are the best and second-best, respectively.

So when I last played flashpoints didn't have solo so I skipped them. At lvl 50 I see the two flashpoints on Ilum have solo mode. How exactly do they fit into the story? Should I finish the Ilum quest before I do Battle of Ilum or just anytime? Is there a guide for when I should be doing flashpoints so it aligns with the main story quests?
