Judging by how half baked the new ATV is, what leads people to believe that 4K won't be enabled in the future? The hardware is certainly capable of it.

My biggest complaint about the new Apple TV is that they don't let Siri talk. Let my girl speak, Tim.

The WatchESPN app just updated. Must have fixed that goofy audio issue. Although there's no release notes for today. Definitely showed the install animation and had the blue dot though.

I have 7 media apps downloaded and they take up about 115MB. I don't plan on playing games on my atv unless there is some great party trivia game.

I'm loving this thing. It is a huge improvement over the atv3. No remote app or bt keyboard support sucks. Hope the former get resolved soon. I really like the quick app switching. The new screensaver a are great (and the 2 min timer). I've been able to put both my Samsung tv remote and Sony receiver remote in a drawer. CEC support is great. It turns on and turns off both. I like the new Netflix app. it makes it easier to continue watching a show and to quickly get to my queue. Discovery is worse though. All in all a great start and I look forward to both the OS and apps getting much better.

I just discovered that you can replace the apps at the top with your own. Instead of iTunes/TV shows showing up in the banner, you can have Netflix or Hulu picks, 'On Deck' media from Simplex, or a seemingly random assortment of album suggestions if you have home sharing enabled.

Man I'd say a good 90% of the games I have played on ATV run with a bad stutter or similar performance issues. I guess I don't blame Apple for that but rather bad ports or general bad "fits" for the platform. Makes you wonder what the ongoing relevance of gaming will be like on the ATV4 if the games of next week/month/year are more demanding...

Does YouTube support Google Cast? If you need an explanation, I mean if the YouTube app is running, does the device show up in the Chromecast menu? YouTube for Roku and even running the TV-oriented web site can do this.

Is anyone else having issues signing into YouTube on ATV4? I launch the app, the home screen isn't personalized for my account so I sign in using the settings. Head to youtube.com/activate and plug in the code while logged into my account, but then the device doesn't seem to make any changes. The "My Subscriptions" page still says "Sign in for your subscriptions", the "My channel" page is blank. If I click the sign in link again the app hangs. If I force-quit the app it looks like it's unlinked again since the sign in link works again, but signing in doesn't seem to work no matter how many times I try this.

As much as I appreciate the Roku for weird cooking channels, porn, and 24/7 80s music channels it's hilarious going from one to the Apple TV. The jump in overall polish and quality is staggering. I'm hoping with the App Store being a thing now we'll get more of those odd niche channels on the ATV.

So, the CBS app apparently still doesn't allow you to watch any episodes for free? I thought the ATV4 version of the app was going to allow this (just like their website and their shittastic iOS app). I just want to watch Colbert, FFS.

Rogers NHL made an unceremonious appearance in the Canadian app store, in case anyone is unlucky enough to have thought buying a Rogers GCL subscription was a good idea, like me. Works well, at least. It's literally just the ATV3 app so I wasn't expecting anything flashy.

Does anyone else find themselves occasionally swiping in the wrong direction? Given Apple's switch to "natural scrolling" on the Mac (to match iOS) it's interesting they're doing it old-style on the Apple TV remote.

What's funny is that it's inconsistent - when their terms & conditions popped up, it used natural scrolling. Everywhere else has been flipped.

It makes sense to me. My understanding of natural scrolling has always been that it simulates you moving the object itself. That's not happening when you're navigating through the menus. Although with the new keyboard layout, I'd actually prefer that. Letters in a carousel with the center one being selected, with natural scroll to turn the carousel. e: I take this back since that is precisely how the Music app seems to work in an album. I assume a receiver will be patched in if it's not there, since a controller is in the iOS YouTube app. I would assume that the apps with controllers are allowed since they can use Google Cast to send their information but can't be used as receivers. I don't think Apple would allow a Google Cast receiver in any App Store since they already have their own method of doing it. I would like that function as well. Both my chromecast and Samsung tv show up in the Netflix and YouTube apps already and I prefer to use that instead of air playing stuff. On a different tangent. I just uninstalled Simple X cause I couldn't get it to either see my Plex server after a bunch of restarts and going through the troubleshooting guide and the thread on the Plex forums. Hopefully the official app will clear review soon. Updating Apple's Remote app would also be nice as these password input screens are a pain to deal with

Simplex didn't want to see my server which was up and visible on my PS4, but then I rebuilt my library on another computer and it saw that one immediately. VV I don't know if it's because the first one was on a wifi connection and the new server is wired, but after that hitch Simplex works really nicely. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to ditch my old Mac Mini running Plex Home Theatre in favour of this setup.

Im finding a lot of games disappointing with the remote (not totally surprised) but Rayman is not bad. Silly fun that works *mostly* well except if you click to jump and then your finger lingers on the touchpad even a nanosecond too long you do the fast stomp move which wrecks what you are doing often. I don't expect to be a serious ATV Gamer but I am considering an MFI controller if I can find a good one.

I'm having a problem with my ATV turning my television back on after I've powered everything down for the night. Twice now I've gone to bed, gone to the bathroom and noticed a light coming from downstairs, only to go down and realize the tv is back on.
