Download/install Cheat Engine 2. In Cheat Engine, go Edit > Setting > Hotkeys 3. Pick speedhack speed 1. Set the speed to 1.00 and choose a hotkey. This is the key to return to regular speed. 4. Pick speedhack speed 2. Set the speed to whatever you want (I think 2x works well). This is how you fastforward. 5. Open the game. In the main cheat engine window, hit the little search computer icon in the top left, and find SC in the list. 6. Check Enable Speedhack. You'll need to do steps 5/6 everytime you start the game. If you're playing mouse and keyboard, you're done. If not, it becomes vaguely more complicated. I'm not sure if it's possible to bind the hotkeys directly as gamepad inputs, personally I just used xpadder to map the chosen hotkeys to LT and RT.

So SC is pretty long, huh? I just left the casino in Chapter 1 for the first time and I'm bumping 10 hours already. I'm enjoying the poo poo out of how much more difficult it feels than FC, at least in the beginning. Agate is helping me make some headway though.

oh hell yeah (chapter 8) that scene where olivier reveals his true identity. i didn't know it was possible, for him to be any better. i am also going to be incredibly disappointed if olivier's mission to kill the imperial chancellor is not a major part of Cold Steel.

Speaking of steam achievements I think the ones for the books in SC are bugged somehow. Think they activate based on number of total copies? So if you buy like 15 of ch2 of the gambler book you could probably activate that one. Not going to test it fully, but I only have ch1 and ch2 but steam says I have 3 after buying a second copy of ch2. The hidden lighthouse sidequest in ch1 also had a bug. Think there were only meant to be 2 decisions, but one of them had a linebreak and made it seem like there were 3. I'm playing in widescreen if that effects textbox size and thus might trigger it. Luckily doesn't affect the right answer, but didn't test what happened if you selected the '3rd' choice.

It should be available right after you start investigating Renne's parents and the threatening letters. Get some fire arts and S-Crafts ready before you search out the final clue. Where do you get new fishing rods? I still haven't seen any besides the one in the casino. I've got a dozen baits I can't use.

there isn't really a rod store or anything, you get them for miscellaneous stuff. I got one by talking to an NPC, one as a Guild Reward, one as a reward at the casino, etc.

So uh, in the first dungeon of SC, I am getting wrecked by the toads and slugs in the treasure chest with monsters in it. Any tips? I only have Estelle and Anelace. The toads only take magic damage, and I am too slow to kill them before they start ganging up. Is this just a chest I should avoid? I'm playing on Moderate. Did I miss a place to buy equipment early? I imported my save file. These enemies are doing about 1/3rd of my hit points with each attack.

by moderate do you mean hard since i don't think there is a moderate? if so, honestly, just reset on normal. the first half of SC at least is pretty tough. and the higher difficulties levels aren't well designed in these games (they just apply flat modifiers to enemy stats)
