For one, they're speed capped to something like 17 kts, which you may recognize as about the same speed as the early CVs, so it wasn't like he really could go anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. Second, I suspect they might be being told not to play to their best ability too, though that could be wrong. Because even a 2/1/1 Essex(which is effectively what the Phantom Fortress is, as opposed to the Salem Witch) should be able to mostly wipe ~T5 teams off the map singlehandedly if played to its fullest extent.Evil SpongeBob posted:Is the witch ai or player? They just do whatever, I don't think they've been told how to play since Phlydaily essentially steamrolled a team nearly all on his own and there was one match where each team had their own Salem..and Phly was killed by the other Salem because he wanted the prizes..despite likely having a Press Account or so with access to anything he could want. Yet denying it to everyone because the Salem was killed by another Salem. And others have expressed how other games they were in where the ships were afk and unresponsive the entire time.

Two things - 1. I've played my way up to Kongo, Furutaka, Omaha, and Hosho - but by far my favorite ship to play in is a South Carolina. Max out the upgrades, kill 4+ opposing ships per round. SC gets decent T3 MM. DD's try to tango with you thinking you're too slow, they die to HE. CLs at this level show their broadsides almost every time and get one-hitted by you. Enemy BBs haven't learned how to slope yet. Carriers haven't figured out how to properly torp you in response to evasive maneuvers. 2. Is Teamspeak/Mumble still a thing for anyone here? Is there any ingame channel that the majority of goons congregate? Why does this multiplayer game have the worst chat support I've ever seen? "SEAMN" doesn't ever seem to have people in it, or there's multiple redundant empty channels with that name, I still can't tell.

SEAMN is empty because there a million redundant channels I think. Also because you can't chat while in a game.

Anyone got any pointers for using CVs? I have a Langley right now and it's a lot of fun, even though there's no escaping the enemy if your allies on one side crumble. I haven't been getting very many kills with the torpedo bombers, but I've been shooting down lots of aircraft. I've gotten pretty alright at protecting my own planes and luring enemy planes into fights that they will lose. Are there certain carriers in other countries that I should go for?

Honestly, I found the US CV line to be boring as poo poo and generally unfulfilling. I played till Ranger in CBT and just gave up going back in open. In general, manually torp drops (using the alt button) at closer distances to the target ship's path than a standard click. Use them but not too close. Use your fighters for early scouting if its sensible to help your team and to help you prioritize targets. My CV doctrine is to take out/harass ships that will cause problem for your poo poo team before they get the chance to do so. Sometimes the threat of TBs is enough to change course and cause vulnerabilities/delays in red team deployment.

I just had a game with a Yamato captain named Ockmod or something like that, decided he would escort carriers on Ocean and not bother like shooting at other ships. He got 229 xp, the opposing Yamato got 2259 take a guess how that game went

So which of the US Battleships are enjoyable, and which aren't? I have the Arkansas beta, and it's decent. I get outranged by similar tier japanese ships, but I tend to do quite well with it regardless.

The final hulls on the Tier V and VI get respectable flak. The triple turrets on the NM are great in my opinion, and flinging 6 tightly focused HE shells at an enemy Destroyer following you works better than it should. I heard nothing good about the Colorado (except AA) and have not bothered to continue the line.

The Colorado isn't terribly good, but its not offensively bad (anymore). The AA is robust. The NC and Iowa are excellent boats. The Montana... well, its not the Yamato, but its still a big boat.

My Hatsuharu has been loving cursed with terrible teams for like the last week. Like, I'm sitting on probably an 80% loss rate with it specifically this past week, and I know it's not me as I'm generally finishing in the top 3 unless something unlucky happens. It really sucks, especially as I'd really like to reach the Fubuki.  Any other ship, generally normal, but every time I jump into it it's almost always been a horrific loss.

The Fubuki owns. Make sure you use the 15km torps, the 10km torps are "faster", but at you can't make the same sort of runs that the 15km torps make available. Its a big difference. You'll rapidly come to understand that with the Hatsu, and soon the Fubuki, you'll need to utilize your guns at times. You can't just torp all day, since the reload is long and the chances of hits at huge range are fairly low. Your guns have a bigger alpha than US DDs, and you have better concealment.
