Say, is there any interest in the Mississippi gubernatorial elections tomorrow? I didn't see any threads for it, but given that it's the butt of everyone's jokes (for good reason ), I figured I'd gauge interest first.

How much power does Ryan have over the house functions not relating to law? Like can he ban smoking in the offices and institute pizza Thursdays in the cafeteria?

I identify as a democratic socialist I guess. I live in Alabama so there's no reason for me to even vote most of the time. I just vote for whoever is black in city council and mayoral and state legislative elections and whoever is a woman in judicial elections and whoever is a democrat in statewide or national elections.

Why don't Democrats in Mississippi turn hard right to confuse people? Just primary Republicans from the right, and then when in office, just say that God Told You to become a Democrat. Repeat as necessary for reelection.

When they have votes in Alabama legislature it doesn't even break down as democrat vs Republican anymore. It's black vs white. The few white democrats remaining just vote with the Republicans.

Unfortunately there is just nothing interesting about Mississippi politics. The Democrats have given up in terms of national support, and local democrats are just as likely to spew racist, bigoted vile and support conservative economic policy. I did not observed a change in platform policy from anyone for 15 years, so I have just severed. When I visit, I smile and nod when the family insists on discussing politics.

This supposed KKK leak is just bizarre. I live in Ft. Wayne Indiana, and 2 of the names on there live here. I could totally believe it of Dan Coats, the guy is a Grade A piece of poo poo. But Mayor Tom Henry is a democrat and doesn't seem to be a shitlord at all. But if someone faked it, why the hell would they decide to stick the mayor of a 300,000 population city on there? It's weird. But if it ends up being true, the fallout locally will be impressive as hell to watch.
