Though both games have starts that have slight choices that dont necessarily matter. I think FO3 had longer term ones but it wasn't related to the main plot while in skyrim you can change your faction allegiance later anyway. New Vegas did this, too.

There's a shitton of things Fallout 3 did that New Vegas just threw away, mostly have to do with map and area design. But I guess it doesn't matter, choosing between joining stupid America 2.0, savage slavers wearing football armor wielding knives but ironclad dictatorship comes with order so they are not that bad and a robot dude who doesn't give a poo poo and just wants to go into space, sure is the epitome of moral choices. I mean, I just don't loving care, I just wanted to get the guy who shot me in the head. Actually Fallout 3 has a more personal story than New Vegas did, which is funny since that tend to be Obsidian's speciality.

Vault 112 -> Tranquility Lane is a really good segment and might be cooler than anything in vanilla New Vegas but NV has a higher average. The first time I pulled Dad Neeson out of Tranquility Lane, I didnt realize he would fast travel with me (hadn't used companions) so I actually spent 50 minutes and all my weapons/ammo walking back to Rivet City:

Every time you gain XP a loud CHA-CHING! noise plays. When in combat this sound will play about once every two seconds. To make it worse, theres a perk that gives you XP randomly when you take any action such as opening a door.

The new shooting mechanics are a major selling point, so people are probably trying to play it like an fps until it becomes too much of a hassle not to use VATS. Graphically, the game really does look like poo poo, but I'm going to quit my job and life for a week or two, and then hope everyone takes me back when I'm done. I generally listen to podcasts when playing games of this ilk, so worst case scenario is I actually learn something.

Its just baffling that Bethesda chose to put that in again after Obsidian had the good sense to realize it was a horrible design decision and removed it for NV.

I'm having a difficult time understanding phrases like, "Graphically, the game really does look like poo poo". The game clearly is no Crysis 3, but to say that it looks like poo poo? That's absurd.

Vhak lord of hate posted:By far my favorite part of replaying any game is being stuck in a 20 minute intro scene that's basically the same every time you play it. It's always useful to remember the save file name you made right before you exit the vault / imperial prison / that fortress so that you can go back to it and never have to deal with the loving tutorial again. At least they give you mercy of the 'are you sure this is right' screen upon you last exit.

I assumed that meant sometimes you get triple the normal amount of xp for an action that would give you xp, not that farting and pushing snow globes off tables suddenly grant xp
