All this lathe talk is reminding me of a thing that happened when I was at school. (5 years ago, goddamn) We were doing something on the lathe and the lathe operator at the time wasn't wearing any face gear. So, I told him to stop the lathe, got him a full face mask and carried on. I didn't need one as I felt that I was out of any potential blast radius. So, guess what happens? About two minutes later, he overcooks it, and explodes the bit. Quite literally (okay, perhaps a small fragment was left in situ) all of the bit ends up hitting him, square on the face shield. If I hadn't have given him that mask, he would have most likely been blinded. Anyway that's my H&S story hope you enjoyed it

I got mystery drain cleaning chemicals on my finger. It was labelled POISON and CORROSIVE and did indeed burn it a little There was no chemical formula on the bottle, but it was black and smelt awful See you on the other side

Some powdered versions even contain aluminium filings because they react exothermic when activated, which helps cleaning. Put some ointment on your chemical burn and that's it.
