BigRed0427 posted:I remember this. The story was they set up this gamejam, someone got some major tv studio to sponsor it and the director was a huge rear end in a top hat, which led to the drama and immediate NDAs from the studio. There was an article on IndieStatik from the perspective of a contract worker for Polaris who discussed a lot of what happened with the GameJam. From said article (had to find it via the Internet archive, since Indie Statik seems to have shut down within the last year or so): "How The Most Expensive Game Jam In History Crashed And Burned In A Single Day posted:JonTron and Zoe butting heads was something I was worried about from the second I saw their team line-up. Tensions were high, and everyone was out of their element, but if any two personalities weren’t going to gel, it was them. And they didn’t, to no one’s surprise, but the pair quickly left to talk in the hall, instead of letting it sour the group dynamic. The second their feet left the competition floor, however, something happened that I didn’t expect: cameras. Cameras from every angle and direction, marching in to the discussion as someone started feeding the fight with inflammatory comments, and all of it filmed for what would likely be some of that legal “misrepresentation.” Zoe was horrified.

I wouldn't understand why anyone who's reasonable would? If he supported that, it's a lovely thing of him to do and support. But you gotta prove it he did it, which is completely reasonable. I've seen enough goons post lies or misrepresentations about what people say here to know not to believe any of it without definitive proof and I'd assume anyone with sense would do the same.

The Vosgian Beast posted:I think you're letting behind the scenes horror stories affect your judgement. Epic Movie is an unfunny 90 minute "comedy" movie which uses references and had no originality to it. To Boldly Flee is a 210 minute unfunny "Comedy movie" with subplots that go nowhere, scenes that are exact duplicates of other scenes that we have seen in this "movie", scenes that are stolen whole hog from better movies, which has no original characters, and an editor who was unwilling to cut any footage out, and a movie where most of the characters do not matter in the end. Doug's review of the Friedberg/Seltzer movies is really rich, since he makes the same film-making mistakes they do, and goes even further in his own unoriginality.

For who wants to know Thread favorite Mike J started a new "week on" earlier this week. This one's about the juice diet! Sure, its only tangentially related to internet criticism, but I just wanted to mention it to point out how well the handheld camera vlogs really add to the "found-footage" feel of the whole thing. What I'm saying is if things don't go full itchy-tasty by day 6 I will be sorely disappointed.
