Skim Milk posted:It's hard to truly role-play in any game no matter how hard you try. New Vegas did a pretty good job at giving you options. I wish games like Fallout/Skyrim/STALKER had a mode where you're "just a guy" and you can go do whatever instead of being the Chosen One (tm), maybe stumbling upon main-story like quests. Those games probably don't sell well so whatevs Even Fallout 3 wasn't so bad, despite giving you a pre-defined history and an emotional investment to chase around, because your dad was a competent adult who had a plan and didn't need you looking after him. If what I understand of FO4 is correct though, you're either going to be stuck pursuing the main quest tirelessly until the matter with your son is resolved or ruin the narrative flow by stopping to teach your dog tricks while your kid's still in danger. You're kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't. It wouldn't be a problem if Bethesda let you play the guy as an uncaring parent who's happy to have his family taken from him, but you know that no matter how much time you waste on trivial poo poo between main story beats your guy's still going to be all like "my son is my everything and I won't rest til he's found". Won't rest from playing with your dog and playing with trash out in the wasteland, you mean.

you're right, insane weirdo, the game with the dog with a sci-fi bubble dome brain who is the pet of elvis and the gang of goofy zombies being prevented from flying to space in lovely rockets by a monster with an imaginary friend is extremely self serious. the game with the johnny 5 aces reference, is too loving serious. i want some god drat levity in my video game, and all i get is this serious horse poo poo about a big robot with a cowboy voice talking about how he's rollin along on his spurs

Guys, you should allow to have some criticism about Fallout 4, it is far from a perfect game and all of it's flaws should be bought up. But don't you dare touch New Vegas, the absolute well being of perfectness, there's no way you can bring up anything that's wrong with that holy program, you must be trolling and my poor aching heart cannot take it.

Neither of the streamers are using power armor, do you just have to abandon it if you run out of fusion cores and don't want to be all slow? Is there a way to summon it iron man style??

What I'm hoping for is an Old World Blues-style junk recycling system where every single useless clipboard, ruined book, toaster or coffee cup can be mashed up into useful items. Give me Salient Green, Fallout 4!

There are also perks to specifically get better mileage out of your armor and the ability to even turn its burned out fusion cores into bombs. Power Armor has basically become the car from the recent Mad Max game. Something you customize and build up into a Magnum Opus of death.

The power armor seems pretty functionally useless unless you got the cores to power it. One might think "oh that's unbalanced, they just up and give you power armor in the very first town you go to?" when come to find out it needs fusion cores and is generally a useless piece of poo poo you just have chilling at your house until way later into the game, when you would have typically been given a power armor in other games.
