Ran into a potential bug or something.

The Bracer Notebook says Arc Prominence unlocks with Fire x10, Wind and Space x8 and Earth x4. I have Fire x12 and 8 of everything else, but the spell's not showing up.

Japanese wiki says fire x 15 if you're wanting to know how to get it. The other parts are correct.

edit: for anybody curious, this is the wiki. I've been using it to check whether or not certain quests have bonus BP or not just so I can know which ones I don't have to kill myself over wondering "did I screw up when it says +0...I wish it would never say +0 unless you could actually again a +". Was very suspicious of stuff like the hotel mystery quest penalizing me for reporting in a testimony early rather than waiting for a fact.

Does anyone know how many BP I need to aim for to get the Gladiator Belt? I'm at the start of Chapter 8 and I just got the Grail Locket.

I think you might just manage it, but it could be tight. I got the gladiator belt partway through chapter 8 (shortly before where I am now), got the grail locket back in chapter 5 but there weren't many BP between those. I think I got B rank at 280-ish BP?

People may want to validate their game on Steam after the latest patch. Got the patch and the game started running choppily, so I figured I'd check if the hardware vertex shading option had turned itself off in the config, except Steam wouldn't launch the config. Checked the game files, and sure enough the config executable had disappeared. Validating files has gotten it back though, but I don't know if it's fixed my performance issues yet.

EDIT: Nope, still getting framedrops. Hopefully it's fixed soonish.

Creating looping oggs is difficult. I've been trying to change the battle music to some of the tracks from the 3rd but I can't find a good loop point for Determination of Fight but the MP3 fades out and I can't really connect the two sides. At least I'm learning something new trying to do it!

Did 3rd ever get a PC release? I'm wondering if it would just be easier to grab the ogg file from that if the music is stored the same way as FC and SC.

It released on PC first, actually. Same as all Sky games. It wasn't until Zero that PC stopped happening.

Does anyone know of a way to fix the consoles in the last chapter? Before the patch I could use all of them except the one that is needed to progress the story but now all are broken.
I'm unable to select anything as the cursor is not there anymore. Changing the display options doesn't fix it either.

I had to do that in the Casino in chapter 1. For some reason the prize exchange menu just wouldn't work with my controller. Mouse fixed me up though. Seems like some text boxes need work still.

It's the Final Countdown.
So despite Campanella being an enforcer, it seems as if Weissmann is trying to impress him for whatever reason. Does Campanella have some sort of special position in Ouroboros?

I think this is mentioned when he's introduced but he's observing the plan on behalf of the Grandmaster.

Yeah, but I have to wonder if he holds a special position in the society, which makes him a special snowflake among the enforcers. I mean, has anyone else on his level seen the grandmaster before?

Yup! Use some buffing food on Estelle (defense buff helps a lot), give her a status quartz (I had her with petrify) and hit as many people as you can with AoEs. Clock Up EX on yourself if you can. I ended up in a corner with all the enemies lining up nicely for True Comet for me.

There's an achievement for never losing to Gilbert, even.

By "never losing," do you mean there are other fights with him later? I've already lost and reloaded once.

You won't be rid of him that easily. :v:

Manly Party takes out the most obnoxious encounter in the game. Holy gently caress. I like a good puzzle fight, but dear lord, the solution once you get it shouldn't take 25 minutes

Ugh mid chapter 3 I swear to god I answered the question about Renne entering Liberl; bottom choice where you say it's not possible correctly and yet a bunch of CSes later I get no bonus on the completed quest.

At least I've learned to, like, keep 8+ saves throughout a chapter.

Are you sure it's the right reward? There's a 3(+0) BP quest rewarded well before the others complete at the end of the chapter. Also for one of them you have to have found her during the initial hide-and-seek before talking to Raymond.

Hm. Yeah for that 3(+0) quest I was under the impression there's a +2 added if you answer a question correctly when you report back to the guild after visiting the embassies, palace, and news agency. I only got the 3 and not the +2, but maybe that question doesn't apply there?

I knew about the thing in your spoiler though, I should have that covered.

I think I saw some posts about that same problem while browsing Xseed's forum, so it's not just you. I think there were all playing the GOG version, I don't remember off the top of my head.

Edit: I went and checked my bracer notebook about that just to double check the points and if you answered everything right the Lost Child quest seems to be the one that cares about that fact and should end with 2 + 5 BP, while the letter one just ends with 3 + 0 BP.

I am having Issues setting up Olivier's quartz in chapter 9, linked in case anyone cares about endgame quartz spoilers.

http://i.imgur.com/h6U1kCr.png

This gets him some high level earth and fire arts (though not the ultimate ones) and some decent time ones too, but I would really like to fit Action 4 in there somewhere. The problem is removing any single quartz except Mind 4 would gently caress up his art selection, and removing Mind 4 is a bad idea for a number of reasons. What do I do here

Cake Attack
Mar 26, 2010

remove the ruby gem and put action 4 in its place. you'll lose fire stuff but who cares really, just use time

Far as I can tell attack time magic is less of "the best idea" that going all-in on it was in FC. The single target elementals are the best for most single target situations and a lot more of the larger groups have actual elemental weaknesses so the EP efficiency and damage and from what I could tell even cast time is all better with elemental than time. That said, you probably only need one strongest single target of one element for an art attacker with time as the backup. Earth, fire or water are all good choices for the buff/heal spells they'd also provide.

Stuff would also still be a joke with clock down and clock up ex so having Olivier be the bot for that probably wouldn't hurt and with earth he'd probably have earth wall too. Characters like Zane or Joshua can solo fights with those still even with the durations and other things nerfed from FC.

This is true, but he's in Chapter 9. None of the bosses really have weaknesses at that point, and I don't think anything there at all is actually weak to fire. I think the big weakness was Earth? And he's got plenty of that.

Plus the hardest ones are all immune to debuffs :argh:

Clockdown does work on the toughest boss in the last chapter, IIRC, or at least some of the flunkies (the clones, that is --- part of why I am uncertain). I think most of my damage came from Kloe with single-target water spell that's usually 30 mp (and Cocytus for crowd control), with other casters using something like Abyss Fall for AOEs (and Estelle using blunt object to the face technique).
