It's funny that (game intro spoiler) you're the one permanently killing your wife. She gets frozen straight after getting shot and considering the tech level in the Fallout universe, she could probably be patched back up with the right doctors. I haven't seen any streamers customize weapons or armor, do you have to scrap/cannabalize loot you find first to unlock mods? or do they come with the perk ranks?

Yeah, there's a number of "control vaults" where everything works as intended, no social experiments, and a few where the experiments didn't kill off everyone inside, including good ol' Vault 13 and Vault 101 from Fallouts 1 and 3, respectively. But they're the exception rather than the norm.
