And the Spike Lee movie Chiraq was a bigger story a few months ago when they were still filming it. I haven't seen anything too much about it lately anyways. The trailer just came out so the outrage cycle has started up again. Rhymefest (notable local rapper to the unaware) demanded an apology to the city.

Yeah, I just read an update to the original articles that says he 'struggled' with his assailant, got shot once in the vest, and once beneath the vest. I had been under the impression he was shot in a shootout, not a struggle - which made ditching the murder weapon more difficult. Scumbag Gliniewicz is probably going to become a meme.

Here's some excellent schadenfreude from increasingly-kookier-by-the-minute presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson. In a 1996 book he told a story that he had been guaranteed admission to West Point and he was apparently using that story for his campaign. Well, he lied and got busted. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/ben-carson-west-point-admission-fabrication Even better is the article on Fox and the comments. They are hard to read right now because there are five new ones submitted every second it seems. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/11/06/paper-carson-campaign-admits-his-claims-about-west-point-acceptance-untrue/?intcmp=hpbt1 I was under the impression that Carson had nudged ahead of Trump in the unofficial primary polls. I guess he just hosed himself over. (I can't imagine his pyramids, vaccines, AIDS-prison bullshit helped him)

Edit: ^ BahahahaPhanatic posted:It's waaaaay less complex than a semi. Automatic transmission. I guess when I say complexity, I mean the complexity of driving a high horsepower RWD vehicle. This seems to happen often to those kinds of vehicles, you would think additional driver training would be a requirement if you're driving something capable of going 0-120 in under 7 seconds. That's a little different than jamming the gas on your corolla.

I doubt anyone remembers, but a while ago in the old thread I mentioned a new bar opening up that seemed doomed to failure: facing away from the main road, in a strip mall with two other bars, and rumors that the place was going to try and use the "chicago-style food/drink" to gouge people. I was talking to someone today, and turns out the place went out of business, and went out of business hard. Near as I can figure from others I talked to and social media stuff, here's the timeline: - Soft opening sometime in early August - Posted a "Hey we need a bunch of bartenders/servers/waitstaff!" thing on Facebook in late September (with some comments implying that they cleaned house) - A ribbon-cutting event announced for the beginning of October (which I don't think happen, I live near the area and nothing approaching Event Stuff was happening) - In early October, they apologized for having to be shut down for a few weeks - A week after they were supposed to re-open, the place closed. I know people lost their jobs and all, but I still have some Freude from a place that clearly was doomed to fail.

What this guy did was tie a bunch of balloons to a revolver and then shot himself. The idea was that that the gun would float away and it would look like a homicide instead of suicide so his family could still collect his life insurance. It would have worked too if the balloon gun got stuck in a tree.

Data Graham posted:3:50 looks like an ingenious and obvious idea for transporting forklifts, if only I could figure out what's physically happening You jam the forks in a slot. Then use the forklift to lift its self up. Then you drive forward because the thing that you jammed the forks in is on a track. It is an interesting idea, but it removes cargo space unlike other designs.

Choco1980 posted:Too bad the proceeds from the shirt aren't going to Toxoplasmosis charities, which the medication he owns is for, but the news agencies kept saying was for AIDS patients. AIDS is also known as "acquired immune deficiency syndrome" where your immune cells kick the bucket hard and your body slow dies as it becomes incapable of dealing with such simple things as a sore throat, food poisoning or minor parasite infections (such as toxoplasmosis) without killing you. For this reason you get given a poo poo load of drugs which are for otherwise benign or harmless conditions because your body is literally incapable of dealing with them otherwise.

I realize why aids patients take the drug. But other immunocompromised people like organ transplantees and pregnant women are very much dependent on the drug as well. Not to mention people who take the meds just cause they inhaled their cat's poo poo.
