I think it's the one gun where multi-ahot is A Bad Thing. It makes black holes appear right when you shoot it, so there's no travel time.

Add heavy calibre and speed trigger. It's great shooting above crowds or into doorways and seeing crowds pop. I was also told to build for crits and it's a monster like that.

With multi-shot, I'm not feeling the need for stuff like speed trigger. It only takes 2 shots to black hole with it, as opposed to 4 so I can be more relaxed with my shots and placement. I can see crit being big on it, like you said though. Oh boy. Plus I don't really feel the need to spec too hard into status chance because the natural chance it pretty high. Seriously this thing is probably my favourite gun in the game.

So it's been probably a year since I last played. There are like a good 5 frames I don't recognize from before (atlas, equinox, chroma, mesa, and when I was playing limbo had come out and I never finished getting him either - not to mention a bunch of other frames I'm missing regardless). The whole archwing thing had also sort of recently come out and I had never gotten far with that, and I think they had reworked the mod/abilities system so that now you automatically play with all abilities, which was nice. Oh, and syndicates were a new thing and I never got too far into them. Just reached the first tier with the cephalon one.

Questions:
- which of the above mentioned warframes should I look into first?
- any other older frames get any kind of major update that would make them worth looking into again?
- my main gun when I left was a quanta I was in the midst of forma'ing (it has 5 or 6 in it, I think). is it still pretty good for harder content? what are some primary weapons that people recommend for being a godlike being of destruction?

Or any other random tidbits anyone feels like waxing on about, that would be fantastic. :woop:

Of all the frames you mentioned, Limbo is probably the easiest to acquire, followed by Chroma. The rest all have long grinds where you pray for the right drops. Limbo is kind of a lovely novelty, Chroma can become near unkillable if modded right, Atlas has like one skill that's fun to use, Equinox has a good kill-everything AOE spell but has like 9 different parts, and Mesa has an ult that's just an aimbot which is still pretty cool, even if it's a shadow of its former self.

Excalibur got the biggest update of all the old frames and is really fun now, he can shoot sword beams all day. Saryn just got a rework but no one is happy with it.

Quanta is still good for killing poo poo. Tonkor is the new primary that everyone loves, mod it for crits and it can clear entire groups of enemies in one shot. Also worth looking into: Sonicor, Atomos, Hek (with the syndicate mod), Dread.

Some of the syndicate weapons are also popular: Synoid Gammacor (good but eats ammo), Vaykor Marelok, Telos Akbolto are some of the most used. They also released syndicate primary weapons recently, which require MR 12. I've only tried the Simulor but i've heard good things about most of them, except maybe the Telos Boltor.

And of course there are pretty good Prime weapons out there if you can stand the grind. Soma Prime is the go-to reliable crit hose weapon, but Boltor P and Paris P are pretty good too. Hikou Prime are fun to stick multishot and fire rate on, and Lex Prime is a decent no-frills pistol.

Equinox can have a ~40m kill ability that scales infinitely with enemies, among other things. Chroma can technically get to 20-60k effective health if you mod it right. Atlas can... punch good? Mesa used to be used to afk through stuff real hard but I don't know what it's like now. Limbo is only good if you plan on going 40+ waves on a t4d, otherwise he's completely useless...

I'd go with equinox, but 6 parts and 2 bps have to be dropped from tyl regor.

Frost got much better in every way. Valkyr's 4 is a toggle now. Excalibur got their abilities changed.

Tonkor, vaykor hek/hek, sancti tigris, and kohm are my favorite best guns.

Okay, I think it was Sloane that was asking about how to go fast earlier today, so here's a tutorial on smashing physics in half again.

PARKOUR 2.0: COPTER'S NOT DEAD
==============================
Here are some clips from a dojo parkour run I did, slowed to a third of the speed. My inputs are shown in subs, with two caveats:
  • Yellow subs mark aimgliding, in conjunction with whatever I'm doing.
  • EVERY DOUBLEJUMP IS IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED INTO A ROLL. Rolling preserves momentum, and doesn't lock you into aimglide's narrow FOV.
  • Some melee weapons, like the Ninkondi, have a janky blockglide that kills momentum faster.
  • Bjump = bulletjump.
  • Please, please, please run Mobilize.

Basic parkour loop:
http://gfycat.com/FabulousGlisteningIcelandicsheepdog
  • There's a slight gap between the initial bulletjump and the doublejump. This is because the boost from sliding doesn't activate if there's another momentum boost happening, like bulletjump.
  • You preserve the momentum from sliding by cancelling into doublejump, then immediately into roll. Trigger aimglide as close to the roll cancel as possible- but not before, or you'll drop like a rock.
  • Release aimglide and slide when you near the ground, or if you're losing momentum. Aimglide puts an upper limit on your acceleration, hence the release.
So, in sequence: bulletjump, slide xx doublejump xx roll, aimglide, release aimglide, slide.

Covering horizontal distance:
http://gfycat.com/VeneratedCrispAbyssiniancat
  • You must bulletjump at a relatively shallow angle to get this kind of long glide. I'm not qualified to guess at why, but it feels like there's less gravity reduction on upwards/downwards bulletjumps.
  • This isn't a perfect landing; I should have released aimglide earlier, then airslid into a ground slide before jumping. That's hitting slide in the air to drop, then again on the ground for two momentum boosts, not landing in an airslide as in the gfy.
  • Looks like a copter arc to me. Triggers the wind-whistling sfx, too.

Late aimglide:
http://gfycat.com/CleverTartGosling
  • Here's a bit of a mistake: I didn't realize my doublejump roll arc would be so low, so I had to hit aimglide when my momentum had already somewhat run out. That capped my acceleration, so you can see me release it quickly after clearing the pillar and slide again for a boost.

Hesitant doublejump:
http://gfycat.com/BrownUnitedCrab
  • I tried to get enough height to clear the ramp, then realized it wasn't possible. The glideroll here from the vertical-ish bulletjump is pretty decent, but you can tell that it doesn't have quite the same speed as the perfect one from earlier.
  • I chose not to slide boost again on the ground because I wasn't sure what touching the lasers would do.

Parkour loop (w/o glide):
http://gfycat.com/ZanyGrossDungbeetle
  • Not using glide is important when you need to corner, as you can't really change directions in midair without a bulletjump.

Delayed doublejump:
http://gfycat.com/EvergreenJitteryChrysalis
  • The timing on this one is pretty close to the hesitant one from earlier, but as you can see, doing it from a shallow horizontal bulletjump keeps your speed higher.
  • It's okay to delay longer if you want to make sure you hit the slide xx doublejump xx roll, as most of the velocity comes from there.

That's it! Everything else is practice, practice, and practice.

http://gfycat.com/HairyAromaticHerculesbeetle

Actually, I feel dumb for asking, but does anyone have any alternate keybinding suggestions? I think the thing to start off the bullet jump is defaulted to ctrl + space, but I have small hands and hitting ctrl while I'm already using shift to sprint feels awkward and hard to do. It also starts hurting after a while or I'd just chalk it up to needing more practice.

What up, fellow tiny-hand-haver? I use a Belkin n52te left over from my younger, dumber, MMO days. Couldn't be a better fit. D-pad is movement, jump/crouch/sprint are on the right of the home row, pinky finger gets all the powers, reload/weapon swap/use are on the top right, misc. functions on the bottom row. Doing all the weird acrobatics is a lot easier when it's just a matter of drumming my ring, middle, and index fingers in a particular order.

It's been rebranded a couple times, I think the Razer Tartarus is the current version, but you might be better off with a Logitech G13. Dunno if Warframe will play nice with the joystick on the G13, but you can always set it to dpad emulation.

Try setting toggle sprint on in the options. Little weird to get used to at first, but I found it helped a lot.

What, hit V and then space every time you need to bullet jump? That seems slow as hell, and trying it just now it requires significant hand movement even for someone with medium-sized hands.

A lot of people bind crouch to a side mouse button.

I just use the default shift-ctrl combo, it's actually quite intuitive once you get used to the motion and there's no other control arrangement that doesn't leave important keys in very counterintuitive places. The important thing about learning to use shift-ctrl is that you lay your pinky flat across both keys, don't try to somehow hit both with the tip of your finger. Usually you start by pressing directly downward on shift with your pinky tip, like normal, and then when you need to slide, rock back+down and straighten the finger so that you mash both keys at once with the length of it. Everything in this combo is quite close together so having tiny hands shouldn't really have much bearing on it.

Yes, it is weird at first and will make your hand hurt from the constantly repeated unfamiliar motion. But if you just keep practicing you'll adapt.
