Well, six weeks into the year some of these chucklefucks managed to not poo poo themselves and won enough games to play another uncompensated one. Which means it's time for this year's bowl chat/godawful predictions thread! Well at least you waited for teams to become eligible this year before making the thread you stupid motherfucker I need something to do on Sundays other than watch the Lions play and resist the urge to drink whatever I can find under the sink. This thread is as much informative as it is a cry for help. So, are we up to like 389 bowls or something now? Working on it! 41 games, counting the national championship, meaning we need 80 teams from the 128 currently active. For the first time in a while everyone is eligible, although Charlotte is "technically" ineligible due to the moving up penalty, though they could apply for a waiver if they win six games and we're short on teams, which probably won't be necessary. So since nearly 2/3s of teams will make a bowl, if your team misses out it means you're really bad and should fire your coach and maybe move down to D3 or just give up football and take up So who has the Playoff this year? After starting with the Rose and Sugar Bowls last year, the Cotton and Orange host the semi-finals this year. What this means is that the Rose and Sugar will resume their traditional auto-invites, and once you add-in the Group of 5 autobid it means there will be on three at-large invitations to the New Years Bowl, which will have domino effects and ultimately mean Fun Belt teams will get dicked out of bowls in favor of having someone like Pitt show up and fart around for three hours. Any other massive rants about anti-capitalism or whatever else stupid things you believe? Not this year. We tell ourselves all bowl games are awesome and fun except that's only the case when teams give no fucks about d, and whoever says all bowls are awesome didn't suffer through that TCU/Sparty slog a couple of years ago. So let us pray to Xort and our glorious Agent of Chaos Katy Perry for a fun bowl season and one that doesn't end with either Ohio State or Alabama on top spoiler alert they probably will.

Georgia's got a winnable schedule other than Florida, so it'll be interesting to see how they blow it. I don't think the East will get swept by the ACC this year, but it won't be enough to save the league's rep. HBC might not make it to Clemson to be retired by Dabo, if only because I can see Spurrier finally snapping and quitting if he loses at Tennessee, which he probably will. Otherwise, the image of an angry Dabo flipping off Spurrier to his face in the final post-handshake of his career would be a hell of a way for the Ball Coach to head to the great 1st Tee in the sky or down the road I'm sure there's lots of great courses in the area. teams: 6 # of projected teams: 74 - 10 (ACC, SEC) 9 (B1G) 7 (B12, P12, MWC) 6 (AAC, C-USA, MAC) 5 (SUN) 1 (Indep) College Football Playoff Orange Bowl: #1 Ohio State (B1G Champ) vs. #4 Clemson (ACC Champ) Cotton Bowl: #2 Baylor (Big 12 Champ) vs. #3 Utah (Pac-12 Champ) Couple of things to take note of: I have no confidence in this or any picks, but I'll do my best to explain my reasoning. First, I'm leaving the SEC out and that's not forgetting the line between my threadshitting and serious posting. The SEC isn't in the top 5 right now, Florida's only going to be regarded as an elite team if they beat LSU, and the West looks closer than ever to eating itself alive. Add in that I don't think any of the other conference champs will have more than one loss and whoever wins the SEC will have two, unless an 11-1 Florida wins in Atlanta to get to 12-1 and that'll supercede anything else. Would I bet on the SEC getting left out? No, but I think it's a closer to fruition than others might want to admit. Ohio State hasn't been impressive, but we're still talking about a team that can gently caress around and throw up 40+ at any given time. In addition, they have arguably the most talent in the nation, at the very least above the Mason-Dixon Line, and I'll take talent to negate the luck factor any day. The game in Ann Arbor looms large but I don't think Harbaugh has the ammo to win that one yet, and whoever wins the B1G East is going to murder Iowa. Clemson's got a legit chance of going 12-0 with the FSU game at home and SC dead in the water, and no unbeaten team is getting left out unless everyone's unbeaten. Same with Baylor, although 11-1 Baylor vs. 2-Loss SEC Champ becomes a real fun (re: intolerable) debate. Utah's in the lead out west and while they might have the toughest schedule of any contender not in the SEC, I think they'll rise above. Peach Bowl: Florida (At-Large) vs. Michigan (At-Large) Sugar Bowl: LSU (SEC Rep) vs. TCU (Big 12 Rep) Fiesta Bowl: Boise State (Group of 5 Rep) vs. Oklahoma (At-Large) Rose Bowl: Iowa (B1G Rep) vs. Stanford (Pac-12 Rep) With the Sugar and Rose keeping their traditional ties and the Group of 5 taking a spot, that leaves on three At-Large bids to be divided out. Iowa goes to the Rose and finds themselves up against a Stanford team willing to slowly grind their bones to dust under an avalanche of 8-yard runs. LSU is the SEC Champ by default, because I don't wanna put Alabama here, they face TCU who reps the Big 12. Boise gets the Group of 5 spot because the American knocks itself down, but now have to face Oklahoma in a rematch eight years in the making. Finally, Florida gets rewarded for its efforts against a Michigan team that also took the nation by surprise, and the pressure on first-year coaches to immediately produce results will ruin a number of good coaches who can't pull miracles out of their asses going forward. C-USA vs. Mountain West FIU vs. San Jose State Cure Bowl Dec. 19 Orlando, Fla. American vs. Sun Belt vs. App State -I try to take note of major teams and avoid sending them to the same bowl year after year, but it's tough to avoid sending West Virginia back to the Liberty when the Texas Bowl is going to take a Texas team 11 times out of 10. Speaking of which, if that matchup happens it'd be the first Texas school A&M would play this season. -Putting Duke against Kentucky in Charlotte was too much fun to ignore. -Congrats Southern Miss! You're bowl eligible so we're going to deport you! Now, the Popeyes Bowl had that insane CMU comeback last year, so don't so sleeping on it again. -The Cure Bowl is the only new bowl after Arizona/Austin Bowls weren't approved in time, and I think it's only fair that we break in that bowl with a team in it's first ever bowl game, App State. I dunno who they'll play but that ain't my issue. -GoDaddy isn't the day before the title game anymore, but Bowling Green/Georgia Southern is a better matchup than that bowl deserves. -It's hard to think of a circumstance where the RAB would pass up on Notre Dame, but Florida State is just about that circumstance. Regardless, ACC rules say you can only jump a team ahead of you by one game, so FSU could jump Duke but Notre Dame couldn't, so there. I guarantee you my math is garbage, but this far I'm throwing underwater darts in the dark. Most problems will eventually take care of themselves, and if any don't well then C. BG, Toledo, NIU, and Ohio are all pretty much locks to get eligible, and Toledo at this point stands a chance at getting an invite to something bigger than the typical MAC bowl games. They still have games against NIU, BG and Western, but only the BG game is on the road. BG gets Ohio, Western, and Toledo all in a row. Ohio's traditional mid-season collapse should be here soon, they have a solid defense but can't really score to save their lives. Akron can likely get to at least 6 wins as well. NIU should get to at least 7 wins. There are very good odds this year that BG and Toledo will meet again in the MAC Championship. The east and west are both of theirs to lose.

Football Playoff Cotton Bowl: #1 Baylor (Big 12 Champ) vs. #4 Alabama (SEC Champ) Orange Bowl: #2 Ohio State (Big Ten Champ) vs. #3 Clemson (ACC Champ) I'm putting Baylor above Ohio State because that's what I think the committee will do, barring Baylor taking a loss. It's easy to make the argument that the Bearmobile has looked far more impressive than the Buckeyes so far and I think it's the one they will make. Could they keep Ohio State on top at 13-0 due to the championship game? Perhaps but it's splitting hairs at this point. A 13-0 Clemson makes sure the ACC gets in, and so it comes down to 12-1 Alabama vs. Utah/Stanford, and I think they'll view Bama's wins over LSU and Florida in the SEC title game as more impressive. I'd like for it to not be the case but Bama's name value is going to weight high unconsciously. Peach Bowl: Michigan State (At-Large) vs. LSU (At-Large) Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC rep) vs. TCU (Big 12 Rep) Fiesta Bowl: Stanford (At-Large) vs. Memphis (Group of 5 rep) Rose Bowl: Iowa (B1G Rep) vs. Utah (Pac-12 Rep) 12-1 Iowa heads to the Rose Bowl where they'll face the Pac-12 Champ, either Utah or Stanford. Whoever doesn't win between those two goes to the Fiesta and faces Memphis, out of the Group of 5. Florida takes the SEC's bid to the Sugar and takes on TCU who has the Big 12's spot. 11-1 Michigan State faces 10-1 LSU in the Peach, which is why Memphis gets shipped across the country. Fiesta might not be happy getting stuck with a mid-major again, but as the bitch of the major bowls they can take it and like it. And the rest: pre:Cactus Bowl Jan. 2 Tempe, Ariz. A Florida win clinches the division since they have tiebreakers with everyone else, a Georgia win puts them in the driver's seat with the Auburn game looming. Kentucky's been rocked but Vandy and Charlotte should get them in. Tennessee's gonna have a breakthrough here at some point and the schedule is soft enough for them to run it. Mizzou's dropped from contention since their offense is just putrid, but I'm putting them over Arkansas still because bert is failure in human form. This all depends on how well Baylor reacts to Seth Russell's neck injury, if they don't play well this week it raises the question of if Baylor can run the table, and at that point do we move TCU in instead or swap out with Stanford and the Big 12 gets the shaft once more. Bama's life depends on beating LSU at home and not dropping any more games, while Clemson and the ACC have no room for error, any Tigers loss more than likely drops them all out. Peach Bowl: Michigan State (At-Large) vs. LSU (At-Large) Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC rep) vs. TCU (Big 12 Rep) Fiesta Bowl: Utah (At-Large) vs. Memphis (Group of 5 rep) Rose Bowl: Iowa (B1G Rep) vs. Stanford (Pac-12 Rep) The Pac-12 spots get shuffled, Stanford winning the conference and going to the Rose Bowl and smothering Iowa, Utah to the Fiesta and a date with Memphis. No reason to change the Peach and Sugar at this point. And the rest: pre:Cactus Bowl Jan. 2 Tempe, Ariz. Big 12 vs. Pac-12 West Virginia vs. Arizona Alamo Bowl Jan. 2 San Antonio, Tex. Either way, the above is wrong and as we get closer it'll be less wrong. C. Everett Koop fucked around with this message at 21:10 on Oct 25, 2015 |

A home win over Duke put UNC up even more with both tiebreakers, which means it won't happen. I still like Pitt this weekend against Notre Dame, which is probably a bad idea but why stop making them now. Miami does come back to being projected eligible needing one win and having hom..."home" games against UVA and GT. Hokie's plan of becoming eligible by only winning on the road and never at home is still in full effect. pre:Notre Dame 7-1 @PITT, WF, @BC, @STAN 9-3 Bowl Projected Teams: Clemson, UNC, Duke, Notre Dame, FSU, Pitt, NC State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Miami Big Ten East pre:Ohio State 4-0, 8-0 MINN, @ILL, MSU, @MICH 8-0, 12-0 Michigan State 4-0, 8-0 @NEB, MARY, @OSU, PENN 7-1, 11-1 Penn State 4-1, 7-2 @NW, MICH, @MSU 4-4, 7-5 Michigan 3-1, 6-2 RUT, @IND, @PENN, OSU 6-2, 9-3 Rutgers 1-4, 3-5 @MICH, NEB, @ARMY, MARY 2-6, 5-7 Indiana 0-4, 4-4 IOWA, MICH, @MARY, @PUR 2-6, 6-6 Maryland 0-4, 2-6 WISC, @MSU, IND, @RUT 0-8, 2-10 West pre:Iowa 4-0, 8-0 @IND, MINN, PUR, @NEB 8-0, 12-0 Wisconsin 4-1, 7-2 @MARY, NW, @MINN 7-1, 10-2 Northwestern 2-2, 6-2 PENN, RUT, @WISC, @ILL 5-3, 9-3 Minnesota 1-3, 4-4 @OSU, @IOWA, ILL, WISC 3-5, 6-6 Illinois 1-3, 4-4 @PUR, OSU, @MINN, NW 2-6, 5-7 Purdue 1-3, 2-6 ILL, @NW, @IOWA, IND 1-7, 2-10 Nebraska 1-4, 3-6 MSU, @RUT, IOWA 2-6, 4-8 Bowl Projected Teams: Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Northwestern, Penn State, Minnesota, Indiana Big 12 pre:Oklahoma State 5-0, 8-0 TCU, @IST, BAY, OK 6-3, 9-3 TCU 5-0, 8-0 @OKST, KAN, @OK, BAY 7-2, 10-2 Baylor 4-0, 7-0 @KST, OK, @OKST, @TCU, TEX 9-0, 12-0 Oklahoma 4-1, 7-1 ISU, @BAY, TCU, @OKST 7-2, 10-2 Iowa State 2-3, 3-5 @OK, OKST, @KST, @WVU 2-7, 3-9 Texas 2-3, 3-5 KAN, @WVU, TTU, @BAY 3-6, 4-8 Texas Tech 2-4, 5-4 @WVU, KST, @TEX 3-6, 6-6 West Virginia 0-4, 3-4 TTU, TEX, @KAN, ISU, @KST 4-5, 6-6 Kansas State 0-4, 3-4 BAY, @TTU, ISU, @KAN, WVU 3-6, 6-6 Projected Bowl Teams: Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Texas Tech, West Virginia Pac-12 North pre:Stanford 6-0, 7-1 @COL, OREG, CAL, ND 9-0, 11-1 Washington State 3-2, 5-3 ASU, @UCLA, COL, @WASH 6-3, 8-4 Oregon 3-2, 5-3 CAL, @STAN, USC, ORST 6-3, 8-4 Cal 2-3, 5-3 @OREG, ORST, @STAN, ASU 4-5, 7-5 Washington 2-3, 4-4 UTAH, @ASU, @ORST, WAZZU 3-6, 5-7 Oregon State 0-5, 2-6 UCLA, @CAL, WASH, @OREG 0-9, 2-10 South pre:Utah 4-1, 7-1 @WASH, @ARIZ, UCLA, COL 8-1, 11-1 UCLA 3-2, 6-2 @ORST, WAZZU, @UTAH, @USC 5-4, 8-4 USC 3-2, 5-3 ARIZ, @COL, @OREG, UCLA 5-4, 7-5 Arizona State 2-3, 4-4 @WAZZU, WASH, ARIZ, @CAL 4-5, 6-6 Arizona 2-4, 5-4 @USC, UTAH, @ASU 2-7, 5-7 Colorado 1-4, 4-5 STAN, USC, @WAZZU, @UTAH 1-8, 4-9 Bowl Projected Teams: Utah, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, USC, Cal, Arizona State SEC East pre:Florida 5-1, 7-1 VAN, @SC, FAU, FSU 7-1, 11-1 Georgia 3-3, 5-3 UK, @AUB, GAST, @GT 5-3, 9-3 Tennessee 2-3, 4-4 SC, UNT, @MIZZ, VAN 5-3, 8-4 Kentucky 2-4, 4-4 @UGA, @VAN, CHAR, LOU 3-5, 7-5 Vanderbilt 1-3, 3-5 @UF, UK, A&M, @UT 1-7, 3-9 Missouri 1-4, 4-4 MSST, BYU, UT, @ARK 2-6, 5-7 South Carolina 1-5, 3-5 @UT, UF, citadel, CLEM 1-7, 3-9 OK, so Florida technically hasn't won the East yet, but their magic number is one and only Vandy can stop them, and since they play this week Florida will be the first team to clinch a division the next time I write this. Georgia might actually fire Mark Richt, which is a hilariously dumb idea but so Georgia it has to happen. Tenn still a good bet to win out, Kentucky's panicking since they've dropped three but Vandy and Charlotte should get them in. I feel confident about the top four; no reason for Ohio State not to be on the top line and the Barrett situation is temporary, hopefully. LSU's been dominant enough to be at 2, over Clemson, and Baylor at 4 is a good holding spot until we get a feel on what they're going to look like post-Seth Russell. Bama's lurking because they always are and it means whoever wins between them and LSU has a shot to be in. If we were to go beyond the top 10, Iowa's unbeaten but They Ain't Played Nobody, Houston and Memphis are lurking but would need major landslides to get to the top, and Utah/FSU will be in the teens somewhere. Basically, I don't feel a need to adjust my top 4 right now, and Baylor against K-State will either cement them as a top-line team or send them tumbling down, and whether it becomes a simple Baylor/TCU switch or a complete 52-card picking who knows. Peach Bowl: Michigan State (At-Large) vs. LSU (At-Large) Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC rep) vs. TCU (Big 12 Rep) Fiesta Bowl: Utah (At-Large) vs. Memphis (Group of 5 rep) Rose Bowl: Iowa (B1G Rep) vs. Stanford (Pac-12 Rep) Same as last week, but be warned that a 10-2 Notre Dame goes to one of these bowls. I work in downtown Nashville and I have to work December 30 so I'm really hoping that Tennessee is in the Music City Bowl because it would be easy to go.

So after the first playoff rankings released, the presumable matchups would look like this: Orange Bowl: #1 Clemson vs. #4 Alabama Cotton Bowl: #2 LSU vs. #3 Ohio State Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC rep) vs. Baylor (B12 champ) Peach Bowl: Notre Dame (At-Large) vs. TCU (At-Large) Fiesta Bowl: Iowa (At-Large) vs. Memphis (Group of 5 rep) Rose Bowl: Michigan State (Big Ten rep) vs. Stanford (Pac-12 champ) Fairly self-explanatory. After the top 4, Florida's the next highest rep for the SEC and they face the Big 12 champ in Baylor, once again left out and this time not even for a conference champ so the salt mines are open in Waco. Michigan State ends up getting more love than Iowa so they head to Pasadena, where they face Pac-12 champs Stanford, meaning Sparty needs to make sure Rich Homie Quan can be on the sidelines for them again. Notre Dame heads to the Peach to face TCU, while Iowa ends up settling for the Fiesta where they face Memphis from the Group of 5. From there the bowls would look like this: pre:Cactus Bowl Jan. 2 Tempe, Ariz. Big 12 vs. Pac-12 West Virginia vs. Cal Alamo Bowl Jan. 2 San Antonio, Tex. C. Everett Koop posted:Sun Devil/Wildcats could be a bowl eliminator, and I'm moving Arizona out since they won't be favored in their last three games. Both true things. This season has been abysmal, mostly due to injuries-- and I would be shocked if we beat the Devils to go to the IDGAF bowl.

I played with using my Moon Poll to try and predict outcomes of games by converting the score I get into a standard deviation, modified a bit for home and road teams, and using the difference between the two teams' scores to predict the outcome. So far I've only done this for AAC games, but here's what I get - 1. Temple runs the table. 2. Navy upsets Memphis this weekend. Memphis falls into the 20s in the poll. 3. Memphis beats Houston next weekend. Houston falls out of the poll for good. 4. An unholy clusterfuck of a tiebreaker looms (down to CFP ranking, or coin flips) until Memphis loses again, this time to Temple. Memphis falls out of the poll for good, leaving Temple likely the only ranked G5. This also puts the NY6 berth in serious jeopardy of falling out of AAC control if Temple were to lose. 5. Houston/Navy instead decides the AAC West, the moon poll says 63% Houston. Houston wins the AAC West. 6. Navy beats Army, as usual. 7. Houston at Temple for the AAC championship. At this point I'd have to simulate every team and get a future moon poll to predict this one, but for now I'm giving it to the very chilly home team at Temple. Temple goes to the Fiesta Bowl and Xort releases Yellowstone. pre:AAC West - Houston - 11-1 (7-1) - Cincinnati, Memphis, UConn, Navy Navy - 11-1 (7-1) - Memphis, SMU, Tulsa, Houston, Army Memphis - 10-2 (6-2) - Navy, Houston, Temple, SMU Tulsa - 6-6 (4-4) - UCF, Cincinnati, Navy Tulane - 4-8 (2-6) - UConn, Army, SMU, Tulsa SMU - 2-10 (1-7) - Temple, Navy, Tulane, Memphis AAC East - Temple - 11-1 (8-0) - SMU, South Florida, Memphis, UConn South Florida - 7-5 (5-3) - East Carolina, Temple, Cincinnati, UCF Cincinnati - 6-6 (3-5) - Houston, Tulsa, South Florida, East Carolina East Carolina - 5-7 (3-5) - South Florida, UCF, Cincinnati UConn - 4-8 (2-6) - Tulane, Houston, Temple UCF - 0-12 (0-8) - Tulsa, East Carolina, South Florida Bowl Berths - Fiesta - Temple vs at-large Birmingham - Houston vs SEC #9 Military - Navy vs ACC #7 Hawaii - Memphis vs MWC Miami Beach - USF vs CUSA Boca Raton - Cincinnati vs MAC Cure Bowl - Tulsa vs Sun Belt

Even if Temple/Houston/Memphis somewhat cannibalize each other, their relative strength is going to keep the G5 bid among them, short of someone like Navy making a run and demanding ARE TROOPS be properly represented (and slaughtered like it's Normandy) but still. Even a 2-loss AAC champ gets in, since the next strongest team is probably Boise tbh and the AAC champ will be considered stronger. 13-0 Toledo might have had an argument but that's null and void now.

Clemson/Alabama/Ohio State are all in if they win out, and Bama might jump Clemson or fall to third and it's not a huge deal at this point. I was all set to do a big thing on the fourth spot, but if Baylor runs the table they'll get in, especially if Notre Dame falls at Stanford. The order might be fairly fluid, but I think these four are the four. For now, of course. Peach Bowl: Notre Dame (At-Large) vs. Florida (At-Large) Sugar Bowl: LSU (SEC rep) vs. Oklahoma (Big 12 Rep) Fiesta Bowl: Utah (At-Large) vs. Memphis (Group of 5 rep) Rose Bowl: Iowa (B1G Rep) vs. Stanford (Pac-12 Rep) The Rose stays the same as 12-1 Iowa faces Pac-12 Champs and left out Stanford. LSU never falls behind Florida and once the Gators lose to Alabama in the SECCG, it puts the Bayou Bengals into the Sugar Bowl, where they face an insurgent Oklahoma team who gets in by virtue of beating Oklahoma State in Bedlam, which acts as a virtual runner-up and Sugar Bowl berth game. At 10-2 Notre Dame easily heads to the Peach Bowl, and Memphis beats Houston and Temple to claim the Group of 5 spot despite their loss. Two spots and a jumbled mess between Michigan State/Oklahoma State/Utah/Florida, the committee decides to reward the two who made it to their conference title games and thus Utah heads to the Fiesta and the Gators go to the Peach. It's a rough decision with all four taking at least one loss in this past month, but the committee decides winning divisions and playing for conference titles is still important, and it once again sparks discussion that the Big 12 needs a title game. Overall record - Houston and Memphis are 11-1, Navy is 10-2 thanks to the Notre Dame loss. Navy is out. Go back to 1 - 1. Head-to-head - Memphis beat Houston 1. Memphis 2. Houston 3. Shreveport is a well-deserved dump to drop Richt off at though so that would be morbidly funny.

What's tough about the Pinstripe is it's hard not to envision that as a Penn State/Maryland/Rutgers/Maryland dumping ground. Had you beaten Northwestern maybe you get flip-flopped and Northwestern heads to NYC, but it's far enough down in the pecking order and too far east geography-wise that the marquee B1G teams won't be visiting.

I know the Big Ten tried to rejigger how the selections work to get some variety for teams instead of the "hey Iowa, you're going to the Outback Bowl for the third time in four years!" thing, but I do have a feeling the Pinstripe Bowl could end up being exactly that. Amtrak should run a special out of Philly or DC as needed.

In theory, we have six teams for four slots. if Clemson and Bama win out, they're in and most likely the top two teams. If Ohio State and Iowa win out, they play a Big Ten title game where the winner is in. That leaves Oklahoma State and Notre Dame. My theory is that a 12-0 OkieState beats an 11-1 Notre Dame, but 11-1 OkieLite gets passed up in favor of the Irish. It seems fairly simple. So what happens if Oklahoma State loses to Baylor/Oklahoma, and Notre Dame loses to Stanford, as I've projected? Your conference runner-ups would be a 12-1 Big Ten team probably Iowa, 11-2 UNC, and 11-2 Florida. It kinda opens the door for Stanford, Pac-12 Champs and now 11-2 as well and would have beaten Notre Dame, but it would be quite a leap from wherever in the teens Stanford will be come this week, plus they'd only be beating a Utah team that's down in the teens as well. It also sets up Oklahoma as Big 12 winners at 11-1, having survived the closing gauntlet. The loss against Texas looks bad, but Ohio State had a similar loss to Virginia Tech last year and the committee ultimately chose to overlook that, and so I think that happens here. Being the #4 seed and having to play in Miami, instead of close to home in Texas where they'd be heavily represented, seems right. Now if Oklahoma somehow loses against TCU this week, that opens the door for either Iowa or Florida to get in, but it may still be 11-1 Oklahoma State then getting in if they win Bedlam. But a reminder, 11-1 Notre Dame jumps all this crap and sets off a flood alert for goon tears. Peach Bowl: Notre Dame (At-Large) vs. Michigan State (At-Large) Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC rep) vs. Baylor (Big 12 Rep) Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State (At-Large) vs. Houston (Group of 5 rep) Rose Bowl: Iowa (B1G Rep) vs. Stanford (Pac-12 Rep) Rose remains the same, Stanford winning the Pac-12 while Iowa gets it as a consolation prize for a 12-1 season. 11-2 Florida gets the SEC's nod for the Sugar over 9-2 LSU, taking on Baylor. Oklahoma State still makes it in as they face G5 Houston, while Notre Dame goes to the Peach and faces 10-2 Michigan State, Sparty getting the nod over 11-2 UNC by virtue of playing in a stronger conference and their one bad loss (Nebraska) being in a more bullshit way than UNC's bad loss (South Carolina). The MAC West is a mess, and right now Western and NIU fully control their respective destinies. Winning out for either team puts them in the MAC Championship. WMU plays NIU Wednesday at 8PM. Toledo needs help, but they could also hold all tiebreakers. If they win out (vs. BG and WMU), they still need NIU to lose to Ohio or WMU. Amazingly, they can actually win the West even if BG beats them, but it would be pretty nuts. If NIU loses to WMU, and Toledo loses to BG, and Toledo beats WMU, and NIU beats Ohio, then Toledo goes through to the MAC Championship.

Since most of the big boy conferences are already sewn up and don't have the opportunity for Tiebreaker Madness (the Big 12 is pretty drat close though), here's what you should be cheering for if you want to see a division have five different teams at 5-3 in the division: This week: Boise State beating Air Force Colorado State beating New Mexico Utah State beating Nevada Next week: New Mexico beating Air Force SJSU beating Boise State Colorado State beating Fresno State Really the only one of these that are exceedingly unlikely is SJSU upsetting Boise, but we're in a season where Iowa is undefeated and New Mexico is bowl eligible, so anything can happen.

There's also a scenario where the Big XII only gets 1 team in the CFP bowls. So the Big XII could go anywhere from only filling 3 of their bowl slots to filling all 6 and having an extra team for good measure.
