I feel like this is a solid build mainly for getting all the modding perks: http://www.nukahub.com/tools/special?build=7f.6.4.3.2.6.3.4 S:6 P:4 E:3 C:2 I:6 A:3 L:4 Charisma and Luck are mostly whatever, but getting all the perks to break down poo poo and get all the mods in int and str seem like a good way to go, also I like strong back because I am a loving pack rat in these games. Going through the perk ranks I end up at level 72 though, so hopefully magazines/books/bobbleheads/whatever help with that or leveling is just quicker.

I'll check my storage in a couple hours, it started a download last night and I just assumed it was the whole game. I know when I preordered Arkham Knight it had the whole game ready to patch and go right at midnight, and I'm like 99% sure Madden did too.

"You can place 21 stat points when creating a character. However everytime you level up you can choose between placing another stat or choosing a perk. Note you can save your build by bookmarking the URL with your choices." Wait, so can you choose to put another point in a SPECIAL stat every time you level up, or does that mean something else? Also leveling is infinite now, right? If you can choose to put a point in special, every time you level up there's basically no locks on your character.

It seems that way, yeah. Every time you level, you get a point that can buy either a stat or a perk. You can also hoard them up if you want to say skip level 9 and then buy two level 10 perks immediately. I think someone figured out that at level ~270 you run out of options to buy.

Ah, max of 10. Gotcha. Skill points are gone right? If they weren't, it'd be pretty smart to bulk up some other SPECIAL stats first, and put your first couple levels into your intelligence to boost your skill point output.

I don't understand why time zones are set up the way they are. The fact that EST isn't the most ahead time in the universe is absolutely inexplicable. If you don't live in EST you are likely incredibly poor and a scumbag.

Volkerball posted:"You can place 21 stat points when creating a character. However everytime you level up you can choose between placing another stat or choosing a perk. The only real limit to your character is your tolerance for grinding, I suppose, because there's a finite amount of quest XP available in the game. Eventually your only source of XP will be just killin' poo poo.

Yep, skills are gone. Stuff like weapon damage, stimpak effectiveness, etc. are determined by perks now.

Unless they rescaled the game, you'll probably be like level 40 by the time you beat the game, so that's good. If there was an end perfect character that every build ended up becoming, it'd make replaying kind of boring.

It would be cool if they patched in the Mad Libs style quests from Skyrim to make grinding easier. You know the ones where you go talk to an NPC and they are like "Go to RIFTEN and fight the BEARS and recover the AXE" for a few hundred xp.

The various Factions have quests which amount to "Go to (PLACE) and talk to (PERSON). Kill some Raiders." The Minutemen quests for example seem to devolve into that. After a while I stopped doing them because of that so I can't say they last forever but they at least seem to respawn somewhat.

I'm a little confused about how my Power Armor works. Do I just have the one suit? What happens if I get out and leave it in the middle of nowhere? The "workshop inventory" is also super confusing to me. If I "transfer" junk from my inventory like toasters or mugs into the Workshop's store, does that automatically make the resources that come from those items available for use in crafting if I should try to make something that requires it?

Scoss posted:I'm a little confused about how my Power Armor works. You can get multiple suits of power armor if you want by buying Frames from vendors. If you get out you are leaving it but it is marked on the map. You can fast travel with it so there is little reason to do that. If you transfer junk to your inventory it is put into the inventory. It is not broken down into resources yet but the game recognizes you have those resources in storage and will automatically break them down when the time is right.

There seem to be some pretty bizarre control decisions in this game. The quick item selects are mapped to 3, 4, 9, and 0 and there doesn't seem to be any way to change them. I cannot fathom why these particular numbers would have been chosen; it doesn't even map to anything on a numpad.
