10 hours in and already thinking of restarting. I feel like I missed some stuff by kind of rushing the main quest a bit, and having the airship chilling around Boston is weird when the BoS in Cambridge are telling me they're the only BoS guys in the Commonwealth right now. Also, Kellogg mentions "Your son is a lot older now, as you've figured out by now." Uhh... how would I know that exactly? Nothing I've come across at that point in the main quest tells me when my wife was shot and son taken. For all I know it happened a week before I escaped the vault. I probably should have explored more of the Sanctuary area instead of rushing to Diamond City to sell my poo poo. Maybe I'm just overthinking this! I'm also really surprised they made questioning what the currency in the wasteland a default first conversation with any merchant, my guy was happily spending caps until 8 hours into the game I visited Abernathy Farm and finally have a line of dialogue about it (in which your guy just goes 'oh ok' to the idea as if it makes perfect sense). You think that would have been made a default opening conversation with whatever merchant you encounter for the first time.

Having a weird issue, playing on pc with a ps4 controller. Often the controls stop working, buttons get remapped or just dont work. I can't assign someone to a supply line because the RB button doesnt work. The keyboard disables itself once a controller is plugged in. Very annoying when the menu button on the controller stops working. Any suggestions?

Do persuasion checks/rolls happen at the start of a conversation or during a conversation choice? I want to know so I can savescum a successful persuasion check for more caps on a mission.

Serf posted:I only want 2 things in this game: For settlement walls that seems to float above the ground, that gap was driving me crazy too. At first I used storage boxes and furniture pieces to try and hide the gap between the ground and the wall... but then I found in the 'Wood > Misc' menu there are railing pieces that will snap to the bottom of a wall, and extend below the wall enough that it clips into the ground and seals most gaps. There are enough different railing types that you can vary them from snap to snap so it actually looks like a makeshift junk wall once its all finished. I'd take screenshots but I'm at work unfortunately.

So my power armor ran out of juice pretty much after the first use, is that scripted to happen? What consumes power, just being in it? I just got my second core and I don't know if I should get in again.

I'm not sure how long fusion cores last normally, but there's a decent amount of them around and you can sell almost-depleted ones for enough caps to buy a new one, so I wouldn't worry too much. If you have high INT you can also take the Nuclear Physicist perks to make your fusion cores last double the duration.

When you do they'll exit the suit, and you can kill them and steal it.

I changed jump to A and interact to B and all the interact prompts say B now.

With in-game radios, can you choose the station? Specifically the one in the Red Rocket. I think it defaults to Classical. I don't listen to the radio in the Wasteland, but when I'm at my base I kinda like to have some background noise. Is there a specific radio I need to build to get the other station? Also, with the Red Rocket, can you open the garage door from the outside at all? I looked but didn't see anything. I wish I'd known you could hang a flag from the gas price sign before I scrapped it. You can hang a flag over the garage door so it drapes down though, so that's pretty awesome.

Is there a quick way to build reputation with companions? Particular with Preston/Codsworth or other weenies who don't like theft and murder? Crafting weapons should satisfy them both, and I think I've gotten increases from that with them both in the area, but it doesn't happen every time.

Remora posted:Do enemies always spawn inside a settlement during an attack? I built giant loving walls everywhere with well defended entrances specifically to avoid this sort of nonsense, but I rolled up to an attack on Abernathy and there were muties already inside the perimeter. No, they actually have patrol routes. Think of the roads and NPC's traveling on them in Skyrim. Only now there are NPC's. Also the routes may be generated according to destination, unlike Skyrim's. I've had a squad of Super Mutants roll up on one of my bases from the direction of one of their bases. And maybe it's a coincidence but it kept freaking happening (Try defending a dinky little settlement with nothing but lightly armed dirt farmers against a bunch of heavily armed steroid Hulk knockoffs.) until I cleared the base. So maybe they spawn at them and make their way to the settlements? Edit: Also holy poo poo South Boston is a terrifying warzone if you sneak through it. There are roving gangs of mutants laying siege to raider hideouts, caravans get blown apart just outside of Diamond City, and every mob is a tank. Sneaking through it to the sound of the classical musical channel put a pretty fun tint to things though. Archonex fucked around with this message at 19:39 on Nov 12, 2015 |
