So is this game worth me dropping money on a new computer? I really want to play it (and witcher 3 among other things). Does it have the same problems as other Fallout games? I remember you could have really awesome guns but the enemies eventually get so much HP it's like shooting nerf darts at a blow up doll.

Dude questions like that are entirely dependent upon how much you like fallout and how much money you personally have. Don't loving ask goons poo poo like that. Is it a good game? Yes! Does it have flaws? Yes! The gameplay and shooting are deeper than F3 but the story is slightly weaker. Make up your own drat mind. If your computer sucks get it on console, but if you don't have a console and you like playing video games then yeah maybe buy a new computer? But probably not just for this? Enemies don't feel too badly like bullet-sponges at all, but I'm playing on normal. On higher difficulties they have much more health, but several goons seem to be really enjoying playing on the hardest difficulty so... probably not that bad.

Real talk inventory analysis. When you pick up legendary weapons you can end up spending lots of resources modding them to max level, but you sometimes pick up base weapons with these mods already existing. Instead of modding upwards, you mod down to lowest quality to use that attachment on your legendary, rather than level perks and resources modding them up. Problem is really knowing the difference between that a pipe rifle is a pipe pistol with mods but a bolt action pipe pistol is something completely unrelated, as well as the various ranks of each attachment. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when you are dealing with one inventory screen to handle all your weapons it's a real pain to navigate. The other problem is spending adhesives and screws to even mod then down to lowest level. The team have had influence from Diablo and borderlands but their aging ui isn't suited for it. In lieu of a decent type sorting I just use the rename function as much as possible to solve it. I have primary weapons renamed to their base gun and prefixed with a dash to differentiate them from risk of being accidentally scrapped. Clothes are a lot simpler since you don't waste resources modding them back to base level. The only problem with them is setting which ones replace body armor and which go under. It's all moot if you are constantly using power armor anyways.

As my paycheck was larger than expected, I will be on a responsible adult and buy a game rather than save the money. After spending hours grinding brotherhood and minutemen quests, I find my character in desperate need of ammo and stims. Is there's any good place to pick these up in good quantifies, or should I actually start the story quest?

I get the mods in my inventory, but whether they are there or in the workshop inventory, it doesn't give me an option to use that on a new gun. If I try it charges me the ingredients as if I was making a new one anyway. In other words: I have Gun A with Mod X. I put standard on Gun A, get Mod X in my inventory. I cannot get Gun B to attach Mod X, I can only make a new Mod X for full price for Gun B. What am I doing wrong?

You can't put a grip from a pipe pistol on a 10mm for instance even though they both have mods called the same thing. You cane see this when you look at mods in your inventory, they are labled with the base weapon.

Settlement Under Attack tip: Build a safe room in each of your settlements then put the fast travel mat in there, that way if you fast travel there because its under attack, you wont get instantly attached by everything. such as 4 super mutants with missile launchers.

Having a blast. Still kinda bunmed the watered-down dialogue options, though I guess you have to expect that in a voice-acted protagonist. If I don't particularly like the idea of babysitting settlements am I going to be annoyed later? Right now I'm like 20 hours in (mostly just been loving around exploring) and Sanctuary Hills hasn't been attacked once, which works for me. Is it a viable option for me to just not give a poo poo about the settlement portion of the game at all? Because I really don't.

Has anyone found a way to make a one-handed, gunslinger version of a sawed off like 3 and NV's Kneecapper or Big Boomer? If not, I hope modding or DLC gives me one, because I have a dream to revive the Hydra from Resident Evil 5, the king of sawed offs. Each mod tier just adds more and more barrels. My wrists are made of adamantium--the perk just applies it to the rest of my skeleton.

There should be stock options.

So how does this supply line stuff work between settlements? I've got the perk and four or five settlements but I can't figure out how to assign people to do anything but arm or scavenge etc. How do I tell them to go to another settlement with loot, or is it automagically invisibly happening already?Dick Fagballzson posted:Probably a dumb question but is there a way to move mods between guns? Minorkos posted:Violent Powerful Hunting rifle damage: 108 You're trading accuracy for alpha strike (and precision, the combat rifle is much harder to upgrade into a sniper rifle) and you can upgrade the hunting rifle to use other ammo if you want it more powerful still. If you specialise in sniping you should be taking the sneak attack boosting perks which will multiply that first shot a lot.

Standing on the roof of a hotel, about 20m+ up I look over the edge and see a radscorpion on the ground below. I drop a grenade down injuring it, the radscorpion immediately borrows into the ground and then pops out of a patch of dirt on top of the roof i'm standing on which happens to be right behind me, charges and pushes me over the edge to my death. The combat is definitely fun and unexpected

How important is armor piercing? I always go for the base damage receivers on my guns, but maybe I shouldn't. Minorkos posted:Violent Powerful Hunting rifle damage: 108 The hunting rifle is A) available earlier on and B) probably has a higher accuracy stat do it's more suitable for actually sniping at distance, and probably don't need to worry about trade-offs for recoil mods cause it shoots too slow.

I like how they started using vertical space quite a lot more, now they just need to embrace it fully. There are too many empty rooftps and empty patches of freeway. Those places seem like they would be prime settling areas.

I'm talking modding dreams: I want to make a saw off held in one hand (the current double barrels dropped by basic raiders are definitely rifles, even with default pistol looking grips) and then, instead of barrel upgrades being "it's even shorter" or "it's longer now" just stack more and more barrels. The Hydra of RE5 has three barrels to start with an ammo cap of 3, then upgrades to like 10 capacity (sadly this doesn't change the appearance). I'd like to have a shotgun that's just three wide four deep with barrels or something stupid like that.
