I wonder if the underground insects belies the possibility of getting elevation levels. Certainly it'd be nice to be able to build up and down instead of just across, but I can also see the issues that presents in terms of existing game logic.

Also, I'm having a issue with my freezer/fridge in the kitchen, where the temperature varies very rapidly even though I have plenty of refrigeration units, and this happens even when no one is going in or out of my fridge. I tend to make them fairly small (2x2 and under, depending on my colony size), is there some oddity of small space that is causing t his, or do I just have to get use to my temperature inside the fridge swinging between 0*C and 4*c at random?

You might want to post a screenshot of your fridge as you shouldn't need more than one cooler for a 2x2 room unless you're living in Death Valley Mk2.

I just had a game where a poison ship fell from the sky. No problem, deal with that.

Then 4 days later toxic plumes covered the area, for about 15 days. Ok, we were nearly starving end of last winter , got enough food to stay inside for a while, no problem. Until the seige party showed up. So my sniper had to go out and deal with them. Came back in seriously poisoned but alive.

Poison clouds disappear and the next day 3 poison ships fall from the sky........

Took a bit of time to deal with the 3rd one as it wasnt as kind as the other 2 that dropped smack in the middle of my farms.

Dealt with.

And a mechaniod ship fell from the sky that very night.

All the while maneating boars and muffalo (at least 2 packs of each) and crazed hares ruled the lands about my poor settlement.

There is no downside to imprisoning and converting them, the spacer faction never sends invaders. There is also no upside to setting them free, so it's basically a free colonist when a pod lands.

Also, Tynan probably should keep his goofy religious/political opinions to himself.

This is my usual setup, and with a single cooler is wildly varying between 1-6*C with the cooler set to 1*C. This is without any movement in/out of the fridge and stable power supply.

This is a design I tried with bigger spaces, and while theres still temperature variation, its only in the 1-3*C range.

e: Adding a second cooler to the second design doesn't affect the variance at all, even if the cooler is on the opposite wall of the freezer.

I usually have a big freezer with 3 coolers, one set to 0c, one at -5c and the last at -10c. Works great.

Turn on dev mode, then click events I think, then bulk goods trader. I'm rusty on the menus though but it's in there somewhere.

I'm not sure what's happening then. There's temperature exchange through ceilings/walls modeled in game, but a single cooler should be able to handle that easily. Try building a second wall around it for more insulation and seeing if that helps. It could be a bug even idk.

Why do you have it set to 1*C? It needs to get down below 0 to stop spoiling completely.

Build an air lock around the door, the temp will spike every time someone goes in at the moment.

Temperature is fundamentally broken because everything updates out of sync. So the game will equalize the temperature in a room and half a second later the cooler will apply a fixed amount of cooling, etc. leading to massive temperature fluctuations in small rooms especially.

Just lost my first colony to weekly waves of 3 times more tribals than I had colonists. A couple of tribals got eaten by wargs at one point and I guess they didn't like that so much.

What size maps do most people play on? I was playing with the first large size and it felt way too large. Stuff would be way at the edge of the map a lot of the time and I didn't feel any real pressure to go deal with it.

I usually play large maps because if the game goes long I like lots of options for resources. Maybe it makes sieges or poison ships and stuff harder to deal with since you have to go all the way over there?

Ok, this is awful but how do I cut a dude's arm off and sew it back onto one of my colonists? I see options to harvest kidneys and legs but I don't see an option to harvest arms.

My miner and general handy man got his arm shot off. Is there anything I can do to help him besides praying for a trader carrying a bionic arm and several thousand silver to fall from the sky so I can afford it?

You can install the Expanded Prosthetics and Organ Engineering mod and do it. It's compatible with alpha 12 and I do it occasionally. It even lets you put a female leg on a male and all that exciting realistic surgery stuff!

I think you get the arm back if you install a prosthetic, so put a wooden arm on some prisoner then install his arm on your colonist.

Here are the Mods that aren't in the OP that i use

Hospitality mod It allows your colonists to convince visitors to join your faction!
Of course there is a price to pay. Should you be successful, it will annoy the visitor's faction. Should other people from that faction see your attempts, it will annoy them too. And of course depending on the skills of your colonist you might annoy the visitor as well.
You can also improve relationships by having your colonists entertain your guests. In return, using silver to improve relationships now gets more expensive every time you do it. https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=11444.0

Mending mod This mod allows colonists to repair damaged items. https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=10908.0

MoreMechanoids mod Adds 5 new mechanoids to fight and you can repurpose various mechanoids to do tasks that are below your colonists' pride. https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=9221.0

Rimsenal mod Adds a variety of futuristic weapons and armors, it also has new hair and a new hostile Federation Peacekeeper Corps faction. https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=11160.0
