Why do you think libertarians support Sanders other than the vague notion that "he's anti-establishment" or "lol they're dumb"? You are talking about people who are obsessed about their own self righteousness and consistency of their ideology.

Between this and his really kinda hosed up college answer he actually showed a shocking amount of either apathy or outright disdain for understanding the lower class' issues for a dude who bills himself as a socialist. Like, I'm sure it won't be covered by anyone because lol criticizing Sander's kinda lovely form of 'socialism' is hopeless, but that was actually kinda unpleasant.

I dunno man, I'm in Seattle and even at 14$ an hour I was having to split a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 people in order to live and I was even living in the exburbs. Maybe not across the board 15$ an hour but many cities definitely need it. This was in 2006-2009 so before the major cost inflation we've had recently.

Also don't forget that living paycheck to paycheck isn't really living. In the US if you are paycheck to paycheck, you're one single accident from being on the street thanks to our awesome healthcare system.

No it's more like those are important issues but A) plumbers should have the right to higher education too and B) putting something like a living wage into a category of 'heh so they can buy more crap' is really reductionist and patronizing.

Right again my issue isn't with 15 an hour, my issue is with phrasing it as if you need that money for like, video games. In these situations usually the people making minimum wage who want the increase are fighting for it so they can, ya know, pay rent and have food, not because they'd like to get a PS4.

Who the hell is talking about building a desktop? I'm talking about buying $375 on average laptops from places like Walmart and best buy, which is the sort of computer the average American owns. No joke, $375 was the average price paid for a computer in 2014 and something like 80% of computers sold were laptops.

Libertarians tick the Sanders supporter demographic boxes (young, highly educated, affluent, white, male) - they know more Sanders supporters than they know like Trump people and maybe they can imagine politics tilting to a libertarian/socialist axis (which would be very favorable to them)

I guess I didn't get that at all from his phrasing. People who have money in their pockets do invigorate the economy, period. Same reason EBT is the best economic stimulator.

buying poo poo we don't need is exactly how the economy functions though

like, if we only ever bought exactly what we needed (clothing, food, housing), no ostentatiousness, no ornamentation, no luxury, then we'd be living in a stark and sparse soviet reality

$375 dollars you realize is more than a week's work on minimum wage currently

Even with doubling the minimum wage to $15 dollars it'd still be half

to combat this youve gotta fight the nimby rich fucks who drive up housing prices and perpetuate urban sprawl by refusing to countenance the possibility of poor people living anywhere near them

those people have the explicit goal of keeping property expensive and rents high in big cities and no minimum wage can help deal with that
