Shellback for instance wrote Moves Like Jagger, Payphone, One More Night, Animals, This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A Motherfucker, We are Never Ever Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble, 22, Blank Space, Shake it Off, Bad Blood, and Problem. Lots of musicians don't write their own songs, though many bands have a song writer in them, they're not the vocalist. http://imgur.com/gallery/TwZFopY This is dumb not just because its bad timing, but Allahu Akbar literally just means "god is great" so its basically the same thing as saying "oh god!" its just an exclamation. It has become "Death to Americans and all Christians I'm a crazy Muslim extremist who's gonna blow themselves up so i can gently caress 40 virgins!".

No, I'd wager that people like this know Queen from actually hearing their music, largely from the radio, but they haven't heard much of their music. Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions, and that's probably it. Don't expect them to realize that Queen were the guys that did I Want It All or something like that. It's like with Led Zeppelin. Yes, they probably have heard Stairway; no, they probably haven't heard anything else.

I was making a factious remark that was a combination what you said and my hatred for Ernest Cline. Yea, these kids probably have heard the big songs by classic rockers, but anymore more than that, they'd be at a loss. Its kind the character that shows up in movies that is really into music, like their room is covered with Bowie, Elvis Costello, Kiss and Cure posters, but they never listen to anything deeper in the catalog than what you'd find on a classic rock radio station. The worst is when those kids, who discover older music and then get in your face about it, as if they discovered something completely new and never heard before. I'm also sure that Waynes World had probably the biggest impact on young people listening to Queen. I remember a music critic in the 90s lamenting that fact, how kids were all into Queen because of that one scene, but there only being the shallowest of fans.

This tends to happen a lot any time a new video game comes out using licensed music. It's cool when a different medium introduces a new audience to a song or artist they were unfamiliar with, but why do so many people get so obnoxious about it? The best were all the new self professed bowie fans flocking to the cover of "The Man Who Sold The World" in MGS without even realizing that it wasn't bowie.

There's a sense of smugness about listening to older stuff as well, because as we all know, all modern music is terrible. I mean, The National have recorded songs for Portal, Game of Thrones, and Bob's Burgers, which should mean their shows are full of these kinds of idiots, but their fans seem mostly normal and don't shout out requests for The Rains of Castamere between songs or anything. Probably because going to see one of their shows would mean going out and possibly interacting with others, instead of staying home listening to Bohemian Rhapsody on repeat and complaining to the internet about how hard it is to make friends when your taste is so much better than everyone else's.

http://imgur.com/gallery/NUZfnbE A lot of the time, imgur wants to be tumblr. Why does a mildly humorous caption also need tumblr captions below it? It's literally white noise followed up by white noise in all caps, as is tumblr tradition. Since I discovered this thread, I've been on imgur a lot less. Turns out there are less infuriating places to find cat pictures and websites to visit.
