Panic! at Nabisco posted:How common is it for healers to just...ignore cleric stance? I play mostly healer, so I don't really see others until 8-man content when a lot have their poo poo together. But with the recent increase of exp from MSDR I've been doing that, and seeing a ton of healers who just sit there and refuse to ever use cleric stance or offensive spells, even in comically easy content like castrum/prae, preferring to just overheal tiny slivers of damage. Is this common all through leveling? Because if so I'm sorry. Common through leveling? Man, it's common at level cap.

Of course it's possible to enjoy something and have complaints and criticisms about it. But you don't exactly come across as enjoying it if you have almost nothing but complaints and criticisms to say. (Caring about it, sure, since you don't complain if you're apathetic. But not necessarily enjoying it.) If you really do enjoy the game, then your posting habits aren't exactly giving a fair representation of your overall opinion, so it's not that unreasonable for your audience to be confused. Eej posted:Knowing more about FFXI will not improve your life in any possible way. FFXI's gameplay has well-deserved notoriety, but it had an awful lot of good story locked behind that gameplay.

Ok here's a fun thing about Diadem. It's really fun to sit on the main farming island with a great group and spawn 8+ nms in in lockout while the other groups in your alliance complain about not getting credit.

I personally like Diadem because I don't get mad over numbers on gear in video games and it lets me make money while making pubbies rage at the same time.

Diadem is a giant pile of poo poo in multiple ways. It is everything that has ever been wrong with mmo's all at the same time. I am personally affronted that we got it instead of a 3rd dungeon for expert roulette. It's cool some of you like it I guess, at least then it doesn't feel like it was entirely wasted. I just hope you are still plugging away at it in 3 months. Or maybe I don't so they never add to the system, I am unsure.

I'm hoping Diadem is just a big old smack to the head of people longing for archaic MMO systems and there is no future support for it. I think I can muster finding it enjoyable with 7 friends every once and a while but I'm not lining up to queue for it every two hours.

3.1 MSQ question, did I miss it, or did they never say what happened that that priest after he threw the kid off the church? If not, than I'm just going to assume that my character stabbed the gently caress outta him as soon as he did that

Diadem is not poo poo because of the gear, the gear is likely going to be irrevelant next patch because a) whatever story mode Alexander2 is will likely drop 220 or even 230 gear and b) new crafted gear with proper melds will likely exceed all but the best rolled Diadem gear. Diadem is loving AWFUL if you want to get anything combat related done at a decent pace, you sit in one spot pressing 1-2-3, occasionally rolling greed on disappointing items. And even if you choose not go to the zerg and "chill with my pals", there's nothing engaging about fighting the HP sponges that are the trash in the area only to eventually, after much toil, spawn a single NM that you likely couldn't even 8 man before the lock out finishes. It's lazy, it's boring, it's not enjoyable content. There are dozens of easy and simple fixes to make Diadem more enjoyable that don't involve messing with whatever SE thinks the item progression should be like.

It sucks that the most efficient way to Diadem is to get 8 raid buddies and sit on an island with 40 pubbies and mash buttons at generic monsters. It is fun to join a goonsquad of three or so alliances of serious and unserious players and do your own thing, avoiding the nightmare hellzone of pub groups NM farming. Punch some monsters, shoot the poo poo for 90 minutes, do it again a few days later. You won't get showered in gear though.

See also the Smallshell minion description. The weird Roegadyn-looking guy that shows up in the flashback is the Shadow Lord, end boss of the main game's story. The young Elezen-like is Prishe, the protagonist of Chains of Promathia. Serket in FFXI was one of the Notorious Monsters that was heavily camped for its unique drops. The final cutscene with all the screenshots is a best-of compilation of all the notable NPCs across the expansions. The song that plays is Memoro de la Ŝtono, the main theme of FFXI. It also exists in-world as a plot point in the Chains of Promathia expansion, where it's a prophetic song about the coming of the Warriors of the Crystal.

Diadem with a gathering party is the way to go. You get to just chill out and casually collect token items/treasure chests (bronze ones are trash, but silver ones are red scrip items) that poop out of your nodes while shooting the poo poo with the other gatherers.

I'm feeling twinges of wanting to resub, but the reason I left is that I experienced all the 3.0 story, there were no more zones to explore, and the new crafting and gathering scrip system felt even more like a mobile game time sink than it did in 2.X. I also wasn't particularly enthused for either the setting or the loot system of Alexander, so raiding became pretty stale. I'm going to bet not much about the reason I took a break has changed with 3.1? I wish that the end game was more about setting out with your guild buddies to control player-controlled spaces, and that crafting and gathering was bent towards that. The airship stuff felt like a move in that direction, but ended up being pretty underwhelming itself.

I also wasn't particularly enthused for either the setting or the loot system of Alexander, so raiding became pretty stale. I'm going to bet not much about the reason I took a break has changed with 3.1? Crafting's gotten a little bit better in this regard but still kind of an annoying trudge. They eased up on the grind of red scrips a bit by making gather scrips more easy to aquire and crafting material rewards tripled in amount; still sort of grindy but not too bad. Probably far more importantly they've added multiple ways to get scrip materials beyond going out and grinding favors, which means that if you really hate that system there are alternatives. Good alternatives? Dunno yet. They added in new 2-star crafting stuff which doesn't need materials pulled from the red scrip clusterfuck but are locked so that only specialists can make them. I sort of see this as a tacit admission that everyone hates the red scrip crafting and they'll just keep things to specialist classes to force the kind of crafter distribution they want. Beyond that whole system, the new dungeons are good and void ark is an excellent setpiece. Thordan EX is difficult but on the whole an incredible fight that I enjoyed way more than anything in Alex. The new MSQ stuff was top-notch, but over in like 90 minutes. Diadem is a thing! That seems like a safe description. Basically: the core of the game hasn't really changed and if that's not doing it for you then 3.1 won't keep you here. That said, there's enough decent stuff that a month re-sub to see most of it will probably not be wasted. Otherwise maybe wait until 3.2?
