On that note, Touhou did the fan remixing thing first and did it best in a lot of ways, ranging from: The typical techno stuff To metal. Folksy jazz? To experimental weird stuff. To the full on orchestrated stuff.  But the best thing you can do is just play the games and promptly ignore 90% of fan produced content because Sturgeon's Law is just as much in effect for the stuff surrounding it as it is for everything else.

Not to be an areshole who hates fun, but I can't hate these too much. Because all of them look like they were done by an autistic 10-12 year old who was trying to do the right thing, and only knows how to draw teh characters from his favourite cartoons.

You can dig if you like, but the majority of it appears to be Touhou at the moment. From a quick look though, seems to have a bit of a thing for Splatoon though.   And there's some works that I aren't Touhou, but I'm not sure if they're fan art of anything in particular.   One more Touhou one for the road though.

More like Japanese folklore is weird, what with the whole "anything that exists long enough becomes a yokai" poo poo. Something unexplainable? Doesn't matter what it is, yokai did it. Provides a hell of a wide variety of weird bullshit to pull from when making characters though, and ZUN is just taking it to the logical conclusion by taking more recent stuff and applying that same mentality as ancient japan did.
