I haven't started the final quest yet but the Railroad seem to be doing it the sensible way, since their plan is to heavily arm and organise a rebellion from within, secure the teleporter so they can start evacuating synths, and meanwhile my job will be to get to the institute's main reactor and turn it into a nuclear bomb. Desdemona seems like an actual sensible person who understands the difference between sacrificing lives for the greater good (a necessary trait of a leader in war) and straight up murdering innocents because of expediency. Also the railroad paint job for T-51 power armor is this really cool blackened steel look with just a tiny lantern drawn on the chest, making it the best looking of all the paint jobs.

you can keep it at any of your settlements or even diamond city (technically anywhere really). just make sure you take the core out once you exit it.

Do you want to be stealthy or tanky? Given you're doing idiot savant, you'll probably want to invest in perception either way to get lock picking.

The way that Bethesda writes super mutants is really, really annoying. They're almost always dumb as bricks savages instead of pretty normal human-like creatures with their own culture. The exceptions are nearly always 'noble savage' types like Fawkes. Jacobstown is a pretty clear counter-example. There are some assholes there, but for the most part it's a fairly civilized settlement. I wish that Bethesda could think beyond BoS=Knights and Mutants=Ogres.

Especially when you come along mutants like Virgil who are completely normal dudes with a hosed up body.

Though the ski lodge in vegas was a cool mutant town.

I was around 55 before I entered diamond city, I also had most of the map cleared before I went to the castle. I don't like any of the radio stations so I didnt catch on the missions where repeatable when I was getting them and I didn't realize only the settlers will die and new ones would just spawn.

Radio sucks because this is what happens,

Really though the story sucks, explore the world and see cool things.

The mutants in Fallout 2/New Vegas aren't assholes because they got their rear end kicked and the smart ones figured out it was better to try being chill with humans than fight a losing battle. The east coast super mutants are all a bunch of random people that get kidnapped and dumped in FEV vats to make more mutants with no regard for quality. Its idiots leading idiots over there.

Eh. I really doubt that people thought more about "focusing in energy weapons" over "using energy weapons." The existience of the weapon is more meaningful than the skill behind it. Especially since the Perk system lightly replicates the idea and with better balance could probably fully replace it.

What do you suppose the odds are of an interface being patched in for assigning settlers? Specifically, caravans between settlements for Local Leader. The current system of "Hope you find the provisioner" and not being able to tell which of two settlements is creating the route between them is impressively bad. I'm not holding my breath, but would it be unheard of?

There is a cross section of motorway on the east of the map with a lift you can call to take you up. I would be careful going up in it especially if you've killed the people beneath and you can see the hostiles above.
Can't be 100% sure as I was straight into slow mo deathcam as soon as the lift reached the top but I think an assualtron used a massive laser on me.

The big problem with the perk system is level gating imo. Remove the level requirements on all perks so it's entirely based on stats and I'd be happy enough with it. I've wished they'd remove level requirements for years, except for stuff like the level 50 perks in NV

So now I'm rolling around in an armored version of MacCready's Duster which is okay but for some reason I can't modify Preston's Colonial Duster even though it has the exact same base stats. What the gently caress, god drat it.

It seems to me that the more missions you do for PAM, the more ballistic clothing Tinker Tom gets, but it also seems to be random exactly what he gets.

It's ballistic weave. You can do that to a lot of things. (Just not the Colonial Duster, because gently caress the player if they want to look nice and have armor at the same time. :smith:)
