I made a pirate ship for my group to take on room by room starting in the little lifeboat, and used trimmed sticky notes to create a fog of war. I think it came out pretty well!

All the dirt on the floor/junk lying around/ blood in the medbay are on their own photoshop layer, so the players can clean up the ship and and use it as the party transport. If they don't blow it up in the process of wresting it from the pirates, that is.

edit: The ship and model were created for the Clone Wars TV show by Artist Pat Presley. It appeared in the Episode "Friend in Need", and it was called the Phoenix. The concept art I used was from the show. Ironically, it just appeared in last nights episode of Rebels as well! But in a more basic transport form, without the shuttle underneath.

That is very cool.

Any chance to post the cleaned up version or the base one? My agitator is planning on getting his own ship and this would be perfect

If the Rebels were to have a base that was super close to Coruscant (which assumingly is still the Empire's seat of power by the time the Original Trilogy is taking place) what planet would that be? I'd rather not have to make up a planet if i don't have to now that this wonderful book exists.

The maps from Legends might be a good starting point:

It depends on how much you want to be close to Old EU; any planet could be fine, in a pinch. Wookieesearch the names and find one that amuses or intrigues you.

(My vote goes to Recopia, a minor core world that was the first to openly side with the Rebellion after Endor.)

Sure:

The session was probably my best ever! I have one douchey player who always finds a way to muck things up, but I broke his lightsaber on a double triumph and crit his saber arm later, so overall the karma was balanced.

Edit: I used the GX-1 Short Hauler Stats, stuck a second laser turret on there and called it a patrol craft.

I just put it all together into the image above and then made my players suffer through a classic dungeon crawl star wars style.

It amazes me that RPG nerds haven't cooked up an open source map making tool that isn't poo poo, actually. Usually nerds can be relied upon for this sort of thing.

There must be some weird trademarking or something going on that keeps there from being all sorts of cool online roleplaying tools because it really seems like there's a lot of overlap between nerds that like tabletop RPGs and nerds that are good with software stuff.

I really like the number of different ways it can play out and the number of NPCs who are likely to live to show up in later adventures.

HAPPYELF WAS RIGHT
My Edge players recently decided that things were getting way too hot for them on the planet Troiken because they had managed to anger or get in too deep with the planetary authorities, a rogue remnant of the Trade Federation, Imperial Intelligence, and several local swoop gangs all culminating in a firefight in a high rise hotel that left behind thousands of credits in property damage and multiple murders. So they bailed out and abandoned planet, leaving behind a grand speeder race / hunting expedition through the jungle and leaving me at a bit of a loss as to how to pick up from there. When we last left off they were heading for Tanaab, which only seems to be known for being a farm world and having pirate troubles that Lando dealt with.

Between work and other very important commitments such as playing Fallout 4 I just haven't been able to put together any new hooks or adventures, so I was thinking of maybe just trying out a published adventure just to get things rolling. I've read that Onslaught at Arda isn't too hot, so are there any other adventure supplements that could potentially fit a small band of explorer types who may be trying to take some initial steps towards joining with the rebellion? I'll accept the old d6 or Saga edition stuff too, if there are any fun standouts. I had thought of maybe sending them on Mask of the Pirate Queen but what I've read of the description it doesn't really seem to fit the group, which is a swoop racer, a big game hunter, and an Indiana Jones type who seems to always find the most murderous resolution of any situation entirely by accident.

Mask of the Pirate Queen ends in a really ambiguous situation for the players -- while the adventure begins with them being employed by the Zann Consortium, it's an anticipated outcome that they may switch sides to the Pirate Queen or go entirely rogue (possibly with a capital ship at their disposal). You could tie that to the Rebellion, perhaps, but you'd have to insert contacts.

Jewel of Yavin puts them directly in contact with a vagabond Jedi, though, and actually features a speeder race, which sounds more like what your group would go for.

So earlier this week I had my first ever experience of playing an RPG, running the Age of Rebellion Beginner Game.

Overall we enjoyed it, and will be continuing with the system, but I wasn't quite sure about how it wound up playing with some of the combat. Everybody had fun which was the main thing - but without wanting to railroad horribly, I felt like there might have been too much combat and it went too easily for the players. Everywhere I'd looked it said that Stormtroopers are actually a force to be reckoned with - but instead what happened was a group of 4 PCs, standing totally out in the open just blasting away. Each one just used their maneuver to Aim and get a boost dice, safe in the knowledge that they'd likely kill everybody before the stormtroopers got a chance to act in the initiative. There were a total of 6 stormtroopers across 2 minion groups, that managed a grand total of about 3 wounds to players.

Was I doing something wrong? It might be easier when I'm a bit more familiar with the system and can act on the fly to try and mitigate stuff like that. I know it's not competitive, and that the end goal is just for everyone to have a good time - but it just seemed a bit wrong somehow like they were gaming the system or something.
