Is it normal when you queue for an advanced STF to get blown the gently caress up a couple times because you have all the aggro? All my gear is MK14, and I'm fitted as advised by goons but I just die a couple times in most pubbie advanced queues because my Pilot Raptor can't take all that heat, even with rolls, jinks, and a shield dist. Advanced STFs tend to allow the enemy to spam all their most Gozer-esque powers more often. This is especially noticeable with Mirror dudes and Borg. So yeah, you're gonna pop more often, in most runs. Your gear isn't going to save you from the occasional 300K Torpedo Bitchslap crit.

Doff Some gear and traits can help mitigate it, but other than those and learning to fly defensively it's easy to get mobbed since you'll always have all the aggro.

After a while flying the T5U Armitage around on my main, I'm feeling like it's time for a change. I do like the carrier playstyle and am considering either the Recluse or the Olaen (but am not quite space rich enough for both). Any advice on which one is more fun / capable? Recluse is good and also more easily obtainable/price stable since its a lobi ship. They are running like 200m now thanks to key price shenanigans.

Yeah the Recluse is hands down the best carrier and arguably the best ship in the game due to its frigates, at least until they nerf the poo poo out of APB stacking.

It's certainly serviceable, and when you fire with with Torp Spread, every individual torp has a chance of proccing the radiation, so it tears up big health blobs. The damage increase based on target health thing is kinda cool too, but it's rarely noticeable, mostly due to how quickly things die. So if you have a fast enough ship, can spare the weapons slot, and like the look, it's a solid choice.

So, hopefully someone can figure out why I'm incapable of finding it, but out of all my alts, one can no longer see the popups that show up above the chat window that list every drop/xp gain you get. Comparing the toons' settings, I can't find a difference. Any clues?

Upgraded my Borg omni beam to level XIV during the upgrade bonus weekend. It's so cool that you can do that now! And holy poo poo, the DPS increase from XII to XIV was nuts. I'm in the process of upgrading my Fleet phasers - mostly done, thanks to my old contra mules, and while I've done that I've been grinding Iconian rep so I can get the space set. I was all smug about how good my fit is getting... Then I realized my tac consoles are all green XIIs  So many loving fleet credits...

After that event, I have a mk 14 Omni beam, radiant Disruptor and 6x plasma-Disruptors after we established that they actually pick up a combo acc and I believe dmg mod on top of the plasma proc they lose a regular mod for.

Is annoying running alts in mirror and finding crap dies so much faster to my klank with mkxi blues in normal than my tricked out fed with mkxiv ur on advanced.

It's retarded and doesn't scale well at all. It does give more rewards for the same amount of time though so it's just a matter of how tedious you like it and if you actually care about the few extra marks.

Will raising the skill Starship Particle generators make much of a damage difference to my 2 x plasma science consoles and Kemo I? Wondering if it's worth dropping some points into it as it's currently at zero and never realised.

Shield's obviously Aegis. I just blew a bunch of dil pushing my Aegis to XIV Ultra-Rare just so I could bling 24/7. Worth it as gently caress. (Except Aegis doesn't actually do much on the vette, which is criminal. Anyone know how Aegis looks on the pilot escorts?)
