I think they were moving in the right direction with the Keeper. He's not total bullshit; there IS room for error thanks to having two coin hearts, triple shot is legit strong to (somewhat) balance out his weaknesses, and using coins as health legitimately changes how the game is played. Hearts dropping as flies is cool and is something the Lost always should've had (either that, or have all hearts automatically rerolled into other consumables). The only real bullshit with Keeper is the artificial heart container limit preventing you from taking devil items, which I think could be solved in one of two ways: - A Keeper-only shop item that gives you an additional coin heart for 15 cents and appears in every shop in place of red/soul hearts. - Or just cut out the middleman and make it so that devil deals cost money instead of hearts for him. Maybe even make them more expensive than shops: one heart deals are 15 cents, two heart deals are 30. That would be in Keeping with the whole money theme, too. Getting angel rooms would then be tantamount to seeking charity. From there, the only real balance issue would be making health ups not worthless. For that, I'd make health ups give ten cents per heart container granted when picked up as the Keeper. Not even technically the price of a coin heart or devil deal, but still worth picking up for future investment purposes. But that's just me.

I got lucky and beat both Brains! and The Guardian because I found the bible. Guardian was extra lucky because womb 2 was scarred and I somehow beelined to the boss room by pure chance and encountered no red poop or spikes.

No bugs, you just got lucky. This game is a good example of how pure luck can seem like something is broken all around, really. It works that way even in real life, have you ever seen a person gamble at a slot machine and then jump to a different one because the one they were at just isn't lucky or whatever? People really do that. Luck as a concept exists because pure chance has no way of being deconstructed or deciphered, only analyzed, and so the feeling of luck is its substitute. I think it's really interesting.

To everyone who actually did the grind to 1000 coins in the Greed Machine, good for you. I said gently caress that and used Cheat Engine to give myself 999 so I could blow up the machine. I don't have the time or patience for that.

This still bugs me in my game, for some reason I totally missed the quick fix they did on day 1 when you could re-import the save data so my post-its are all screwed up still and I really don't want to lose my Afterbirth progress. Too bad they can't retroactively fix it. There's some kind of Re-import/Alt-F2 trick to sync up game progress with unlocked achievements but from what I've read it seems unreliable.

I don't think either of them actually tested it, as my testing (with a completely fresh slot) revealed that she doesn't start with it until you unlock it. This is a terrible game to make semantic arguments about, in any case.

 Today's daily is beat Isaac with The Lost. Had Triple Shot + Dark Matter, Infamy for a bit of extra defence and a couple of damage boosters. Blue Candle was in an early shop, but I didn't have enough cash. Isaac took forever to kill, but I didn't get hit once during the fight, still had Holy Mantle up when he died.

I love how every now and then you run into new synergies that you didn't even realize that the crew would think of. Got Proptosis + Brimstone which gives you what I like to call Brimtosis. Your beam starts large and then shrinks down as you go. You do less damage past around Azazel range (took me forever to beat Mr. Fred with it when I just sat outside of his range) but if you get close you do a bajillion damage. It's almost like turning another character into a quasi-Azazel, but you can still snipe if you need/want to.

Quick question regarding the D6: Last night I was playing a Greed run with Isaac, I noticed that when I rerolled the Items in the shop, a Item which was on sale got rerolled but retained the discounted price. But then later on in the run, I rerolled the shop items again, and an Item which wasn't on sale gained a discount when I rerolled it. I guess my question is: Did I just get lucky the first time, or can the D6 only decrease/retain item values without being able to increase them to their "normal" price?

What are people finding hard about The Guardian? Seems like one of the easy/medium challenges in the DLC. Only bullshit I ran into in it was finding a room with like 20 fast tall red spiders who crowd you in one second. With half a heart left.

Also if you get Red Mom without either a ton of damage or some form of invincibility it can be impossible to kill her before she stomps you to death, since her foot always lands and doesn't stay down for very long. The spikes and poop are a bigger issue, of course, but it's all the things added together that make people question if the challenges were playtested at all.

It happens because the heart is pinned to the punching bag, and when the punching bag is destroyed when the player runs out of health, the heart has nowhere to go. So then it just resets to whatever its default position is, since the behavior that pins it to the player is disabled for the challenge.

I'm not sure what is more frustrating between trying to get an actual start with ??? or Lazarus or the number of times I've seen the machine jam after donating less than five coins.

So, what unlocks Kidney Stone? Platinum God says it's unlocked via Onan's Streak, and yet despite the fact I never beat that challenge I found it in a normal Judas run. Also, the Kidney Stone from the blast can totally be a special/status effect tear. Seeing a holy kidney stone fly out and bean some helpless enemy/summon a holy airstrike is hilarious.

So I've been playing through Rebirth on the PS4. I guess I skipped fighting Mom's Heart too many times, because I didn't unlock the Kill Mom's Heart 5 times or 10 times trophies, and now I can only fight "It Lives". Did I screw myself out of unlocking some poo poo by doing that?

If you wanna do it legit, for the love of god, at least use the script that prevents jamming. At least get a shot to donate all of whatever you managed to accrue. It's basically "legit", just geting rid of the artificial and arbitrary grind extender.
