I thought Extraordinary X-Men #2 was a vast improvement over #1. I got a kick out of the Limbo relocation 'cuz it hearkens back to the ridiculous schoolground antics during Wolverine and the X-Men.

Also I like how when we're cutting to New York, we'll get specific districts of New York like Manhattan or Brooklyn. Old Man Logan drinking in a bar? It's in Manitoba. Just, somewhere there. Winnipeg? Winkler? Flin Flon? Nah, just Manitoba. The cold trailer-y part I guess. Other side note: still not a fan of the artist's rendition of Magik. The bangs are just such a small detail but they've been her thing ever since she's been a major character. She just doesn't look right without them.

Magik really should have the icy Russian Supermodel look, and without the bangs it just doesn't work. Hopefully Jean will be more tactful than Kitty in dealing with potential boyfriends being mutant bigots. I also like how the dudes "I'm not a Mutant i'm and Inhuman!". Also I love how its Old Logan and Young Jean. Oh and the splash of the dead X-men at Logan's feet was brutal. There were clearly body parts everywhere, not just bloody corpses, they where in pieces.

But in the end I felt like after Deadly Genesis, the farther they took him away from Xavier, the harder it was to sympathize with Cyclops. And even before he went full mid 90s Magneto (literally moving into Magneto's old mutant separatist House/Asteroid) I just had a hard time reading books that were centered around him.

I liked that young Jean getting together with young Beast was some kind of big important payoff at the end of Bendis' run and immediately afterwards Lemire was like "Nah I don't care." I really liked this. Not sarcasm.

Something I realized when looking at it again, I realized that Laura is drawn more stocky than before. She's not nearly as stocky as Logan, but you can see it in a bunch of panels.

I think the in-universe excuse is  amnesia. Despite her apparently having flashbacks to X-Force in All-New Wolverine (where she still talks exactly the same as she does in the 'present'-not to mention Logan's attitude not matching up between the flashback & actual series.)Although maybe the amnesia is on the part of the writers. Edit: has anyone asked why Laura never tried to kill Emma like she promised? Because that seems like it would have been an interesting story to tell. Too bad Bendis, near as I can tell, only got Laura's character down as 'Girl Wolverine'. While that has its advantages (ignores NYX and 'trigger scent' drama), considering all of the great character development Kyle, Yost, & primarily Liu put into her, he kind of threw the baby out with the bathwater. I'm actually super surprised that post-Battleworld, characters are still dimensional refugees and stuff like that, rather than a sort of Crisis on Infinite Earths thing where they think they've always been this way. I was expecting the old Logan to be quietly reintroduced as the real thing as a way to bring the character back.
