US Suburbs are the absolute worst. You can't just pop down to the local corner store on foot/bike/scooter, there isn't one. So you need get in your car to drive there, as does everyone else, and thus it's traffic everywhere at all times, which means you might as well do your shopping once a week/month to save time, which means you need a big car to fit everything, which means you need a bigger house to fit your 2.5 SUVs which means you need to work longer hours to afford the lifestyle which means you have no time outside of work which means you need to pay for basic things like lawncare because you're so busy and the cycle just loving repeats until you die.

Yeah alright you probably get slightly better gas mileage and the car is slightly lighter but clearly you don't drive in big city traffic. Automatic is just better and easier in those conditions, sorry.

Google Chrome handles tabs so poorly that I don't know how anyone uses the loving thing: Which tab is which? Unfixable via any add-ons, by the way (something about Chrome not allowing access to its visual styles). Compare with Firefox: Unfortunately Firefox runs like complete dogshit when on any page that contains a video (HTML5 or flash, it doesn't matter) so I still need both installed. Chrome is the example of terrible design that I am using here, though. Also, no down arrow on the address bar so you can pick from your top sites. Gotta use a keyboard like a jackass. Another fun feature of Chrome: want to log into your gmail account on your work computer? Hows about we load up your entire search history and all the porno sites you have on your favorites bar while we're at it?

God I wish Google would stop trying to make everything Google-related automatically save my entire identity. All of my passwords are saved by google. All of my credit card information is saved by google (Except for the CVV and phew what a lifesaver, a 3-digit code is definitely hard to crack when you have the rest of the cc#, for sure). My address is saved by google. Every time I log into gmail or youtube or on a google-enabled device it shares that stuff with whatever I'm using it on. I told it not to save any of my poo poo and it did it anyway and I have no idea how to make it forget it all and never do it again, and I know inside that the answer is "there is no way, welcome to the future of easily steal-able identities", but there should be a way.

Yeah but why the gently caress do you need that many tabs open at once. You can only look at one per window at once. Seriously, if you have 50 tabs open at once, why?

I have never understood why American suburbs don't have shops amongst them. Why do people not convert homes/land into convenience stores and make a mint?

Incoming Chinchilla posted:I have never understood why American suburbs don't have shops amongst them. Why do people not convert homes/land into convenience stores and make a mint? I read an article a while back talking about suburbs, and apparently they were originally planned and designed to be areas where people could live but have everything they'd need within walking distance. The idea was that there would be parks and large, open sidewalks, and the neighborhoods would be designed around convenient walking or bike riding to a grocery and school. This was in the 40's or 50's, though, and it's why sometimes when you're just outside of downtown in a city you see neighborhoods tucked away that look like this, because at the time they were built they were considered a suburb, but the city wound up enveloping them. The reason that it all changed is that in more modern times, they've tried to cram as many houses as possible into a subdivision, which resulted in zero parks, no sidewalks and houses that are 6 inches apart and about a foot from the street. Mix this with lovely zoning, and the best a grocery can do is try to pick a location equidistant between several subdivisions, which results in them being convenient to none.

It's also the best way for choosing porn. You open all the videos up in new tabs, then skim through them to see if any of them star someone you went to high school with, then close the rest.

Parallel Paraplegic posted:Not only that but mine only turn on when they detect not-direct-sunlight, and it has an override for me to manually force them on in case I find a scenario where I need headlights on but keys out of the car (which I haven't). It also keeps the lights on for about a minute after you get out of the car so you can see what you're doing at night, which is nice. Seems like american cars dont have an auto setting for headlights? I had a Porsche 928 a long time ago which had pop up headlights, this is the only car I have ever driven which forced me to turn lights on/off myself.

People nodding off in the gutters literally. What i learned is nothing will stop people shooting up. People would nod midway through trying to shoplift. Nod off in their car in the middle of the road with syringe still in their arm. The toilets had half height doors, blue lights and full time security and people would still shoot up in there.

So they just cut a big notch out of the door to fix it. I remember I used to look at a lot of model homes years ago in California (80s). Everything was always white, and they would take most of the interior doors off to make the rooms look bigger - including bathroom doors.
