I don't think the stopwatch nerf is that bad. It's effectively now "this room is EZmode if you get hit" instead of "Every room is EZmode." It's even kinda viable on The Lost thanks to HM (unless HM doesn't trigger the effect?)

I just put in 70 or so coins with Maggie and the chance to jam only raised to 1 from 0. Seems like you can make some significant progress if you don't spend all your coins now!

There's a lot of characters who just can't destroy Rag Man's head before it becomes a spider if you don't get some damage that early. But that's this game in a nutshell, really. Tested it out myself too.

Oh by the way Stopwatch is still a special item. Hello there new Soy Milk. Though unlike Soy Milk, it Won't actively ruin a run on its own, but it'll make it less likely to see better special items.

I'm begining to think that, on top of Nicalis not being a very good or even professional developer team, Edmund might not be a very good video game designer and has just lucked his way in to a couple formulas that work very well. Much like Notch.

Single player game with no online component beyond the recently introduced daily. NERF NERF NERF NERF NERF I don't get it, who gives a poo poo, there's still a myriad of ways to break the game, why nerf so many things, hell why nerf so many things after so long? It was fine being stupid broken for an item that required that much hassle to unlock, especially given we didn't have a "unfuck the donation machine" item. So yeah it's pretty lovely to take an item that took anywhere from 2-10 hours to unlock pre afterbirth and nerf it so it doesn't work with the one character you want it on the most and is a minor positive at best for every other character.

Stopwatch nerf wouldn't actually be all that bad if they made it so that it was still always on for The Lost. Taking away one of the already scant items that can allow him to beat super bosses is pretty dumb.

They should list what you need to kill for the daily run on the menu in addition to the character you're playing. That way I can get a better gauge if I have time to do what run they are giving me.

Powerful items are cool but Stopwatch was basically an automatic victory in item form for everyone except The Lost and not even in a way that was particularly fun, so I'm not too broken up about it being nerfed. Although I agree that it definitely shouldn't count as a special item anymore. Also I don't think I've ever seen a fanbase so salty about a game they've spent hundreds of hours playing as this one. Well no, actually I have, in MMOs, which leads me to conclude that there comes a point where some people simply get too invested in a game and from that point on every decision the devs make that they don't agree with makes them react like the sky is falling.

but the decisions are usually not good are they? I remember in the original boi when samson was complete trash and people had to yell a lot for him to get a buff. people had to yell a lot for the spiders to get nerfed too, what was it, they both took forever to kill and did a heart of damage? my memory's bad and it's been a long time so I'm not 100% sure on that

There has also been more nerfs than buffs throughout any post launch updates Rebirth and Afterbirth got, so there's probably gonna be more complaining than not.
