The best automated ordering system is Panera's rapid pick up, I love that poo poo. I just punch in my order before I get in my car and by the time I get to the store it's sitting on the shelf and I can just grab and go with zero human interaction. I know,

I ordered Starbucks via the app the other day because I was buying for a few people and it was awful how much I enjoyed busting in there, jumping the line and busting out in front of 6 people in line.

There's generally like one or two cashiers at a time in any given fast food place and those cashiers usually also make food at other times, it's not really eliminating a huge amount of jobs to replace them with a more efficient terminal. Hell at Sheetz and Wawa you still have to hand money to an actual human after you order and pick up your food the only difference is that there's less of a chance they'll forget/get your order wrong cause there's a big screen that lists everything right after you put it in the system

These people aren't cheering on big business or anything, they just straight-up don't want people to get what they have without trying, even if the same system would cause them to make more money. Like, I knew that states decided to not take the Medicaid expansion but what I didn't know was that that decision was with the government footing 100% of the bill up until 2020 when it'd drop to 90% but even then some states decided to not accept it so wow, bad decisions are just loving loved by people, it seems.
