She's gotta go. This is now like the 5th person she's blown up on and caused a scene inside the shop. Every time something comes up she runs to the owner who basically does nothing cause he's a chill guy that doesn't want to fire anyone or something. She's already alienated herself to basically the whole staff.

And surely "bipolar" isn't a term that's also used colloquially to describe people with severe mood swings and poor self-control. But surely you weren't just talking out of your rear end to take a cheap shot at a generally bad poster making a not-really-bad post just because that's the Cool Thing to do in this here thread.

Actually I didn't say anything about dog man at all you just assumed I was calling him out for making a lovely post about someone with a problem because that's what he did. I don't know or work with this person and only have the infomation presented here, so maybe she doesnt, in fact, have a mental illness even though we were just told she does. If she is regularly having breakdowns she probably needs treatment and/or medication, and definitely doesn't need Internet down-getters sniping at her from the peanut gallery. Either way, gently caress you.

I can't remember if I posted this already, but: Thanks for all the advice regarding Private McCreepy. No worries about me getting to my car; all us KP's clock out at the same time and we're always parked in the same clump. So I'm always walking out with someone parked right next to me. I've seen him the last couple shifts, and he hasn't done anything weird. Maybe he's back on his meds, I dunno. My question du jour: What kinds of restaurants are open on Thanksgiving? Aside from the fancy ones where you make reservations and they do a special meal, or fast food. Like, I can count on Chinese for Christmas. Is there a chance of getting sushi on Thanksgiving? Indian, Korean? I could start calling every place in town and asking, but I'm pretty sure even just the third "no, we're closing" will only depress me more when I'm in a funk over not making a turkey myself for the first time in 13 years. Thought I'd check and see where to start first. I'm in Newport News, VA, fwiw.

Chinese people get married on Thanksgiving cause that means the restaurants can close and all their family can be there. Also, in your earlier post you said something about how if he had slapped your rear end you could have just dealt with it as just-the-way-kitchens-are. I uh, encourage you to reevaluate that position.

I feel like the most actionable thing is the "BOO!" incident. People might write harassment off as grab-rear end, but causing actual injury/harm seems like it'd be the fastest way to get canned.

I think I'm almost ready to drop cash on a fancy wordpress theme. Cafecultura seems like it should hit the mark nicely; the other themes made by the same folks also look solid but just not appropriate for the restaurant in question. Before I take the plunge, though--anyone had any bad times with this theme or Theme of the Crop in general? Reviews seem a little sparser than I'd have liked, but generally positive.

Hell yeah, health inspector, come on in! Just in time for the lunch rush, I see, why don't you stand in the middle of our narrow line and grumpily stuck your thermometer in every god drat thing for a half hour. A bit too your left, just there between the two stations that need to constantly communicate and pass things back and forth. Be sure to block as many lowboy doors as possible and never move, we love that!

Kenning posted:Chinese people get married on Thanksgiving cause that means the restaurants can close and all their family can be there. That's pretty dang interesting, and makes sense. quote:Also, in your earlier post you said something about how if he had slapped your rear end you could have just dealt with it as just-the-way-kitchens-are. I uh, encourage you to reevaluate that position. Oh goodness, no, I guess I phrased that poorly. What I was trying to say is... having heard horror stories about rampant sexism and harassment in kitchens (*cough* rating "chick" servers on their willingness to get down *cough*), I wouldn't be as frightened by an rear end-slappin' as by the "kick in the throat" comment. Grossed out and offended, to be sure, and I'd have the guy written up so fast it would make his head swim. The "kick in the throat" business not only surprised me (as it was out of nowhere), but spooked me, which an rear end-slap would not have (as much). That was the distinction I was going for. Does that make more sense? Thanks for everyone's input about Private McCreepy. No worries about me getting to my car safely; I'm never the last one to leave, and rarely alone. We KPs all clock out around the same time every night, and park in the same corner of the lot, so 99% of the time I'm walking out with a group. If I really felt unsafe, my night supervisor (a muscular dude) is always the last to leave, and then a sgt locks the building after us. I could always call on getting an escort. In Somewhat Happier News: Tomorrow is what the Master Sgt referred to as our DFAC's Superbowl. We have some generals coming in for lunch, for our 3 hour Thanksgiving lunch extravaganza. 20 turkeys the size of VW Beetles, 2(?) whole pig roasts, crab legs, shrimp, potatoes probably best measured in tonnage than pounds, we've been cutting yams for days, ice sculptures, cakes upon cakes upon cakes (my roomie works there on pastries and has been pulling 9pm to 5am shifts making fondant and icing and such for the last week) ... I clocked out at 8 tonight, and it was weird to see the kitchen going full blast (normally the cooks get to jet 30-60 min before KP, and they cut the lights off before we even leave). I'm on pots'n'pans for the big day tomorrow, so I may not be posting for a few days because my hands will likely have fallen off after that shift. But, OK, finally, the Happy News: I was in the locker room before clocking back in tonight and overheard two veterans of past Tgiving meals. "...and all that food? You know I'm bringing bags." "Aw yeah, I got them gallon ziploc freezer bags." [both laugh] "You know I'm ready for this." I butt in. "Sooo... there's lots of leftovers tomorrow?" "Oh, GIRL." She beams at the memory of bygone DFAC spoils. "There's food alright. We eat for free on break, and the food they give away? Bring yo'self some bags." Apparently, unlike all other days in the year when KP has to come up with ninja-like ways of hiding shotguns of food to take home (that would be thrown out anyways), tomorrow it is encouraged. We're closed for four days after tomorrow, which, even on a boring holiday like Columbus Day means an rear end-ton of stuff is getting just pitched. Hell, I've come home with 5 pounds of blueberries, 2 dozen eggs, and 10 roasted chicken thighs on an average Thursday, just hanging around pnp at the right moment and happening to have small garbage bags in my apron and knowing where to hide the booty. Tomorrow? The mind boggles at what I'll be bringing home tomorrow with a whole roll of ziplocs at the ready, thanks to my KP crew's heads up and the fact that I'm on pnp, the frontline for all pans coming off the serve line. Usul, we have foodsign the likes of which even God has never seen. I've been rambling. I'm sorry, I've worked the last 17 days in a row and haven't been out much. Thank you, though. no prob, themeforest is pretty great. they changed their licensing terms recently though, so if you buy through them just make sure you download their license file and keep backups of the theme files - they can apparently drop a "theme provider" at any point and you would just be SOL if you wanted to re-download your poo poo. this can happen with any company though, so I guess I prefer buying through a marketplace where maybe there's a little more accountability / peer review? maybe themeofthecrop is even on there.
