Hey, goons. Long time, no post.

Anyone got a line on some good thugs? I've got the Frostgrave Soldiers set, but they all look like (reasonably) professional henchmen. My Bones collection is likewise full of heroic and proficient types.

"Thug," to me, implies a rough-looking character with a club or some other improvised weapon: cleaver, hatchet (not war axe), knife, etc. There are a few villagers in my Bones bag that I could repurpose, but they don't look scummy and disreputable enough.

We had a model jump down from something that was 4" tall. The book says you can jump up to 4" so we counted that as fine, but anything higher than 4" would be considered falling and have to take damage. Sound right?

Zark the Damned
Mar 9, 2013

Sounds OK to me so long as it's voluntary movement. If you fall 4" after being pushed off the top you'd still take damage.

Springfield Fatts

Oh yeah if it was a push we would have done the damage, this dude just leaped off a roof in a “nope!” reaction to a buffed Treasure Hunter coming at him.

Had a great moment in my game this weekend. There was a treasure on a third floor and my opponent was trying to be slick and cast Leap to put a thug up there. In my turn he took an arrow and almost died, so the wizard had him Leap off the roof in the next activation. When I pointed out that he forgot to pick up the treasure, he shouted “god dammit, Frank!” and made him Leap straight up 10” then fall to his death. Fuckin’ wizards, man.

How much does a Mule cost? (Dice Bag Lady, I love you but the lack of nickstarter shipping updates is killing me slowly.)

I didn't know either, so didn't want to email everyone every day with "not shipped yet" ;-) (I was updating on the Frostgrave Group on FB, my own business FB & Twitter, just a lot harder to get everyone individually with my 1950's software)

All shipped now, and everyone will have an email. Anything with no extras was shipped on the 16th, any extras had to wait as the cards were delayed from Osprey, and my extra dudes were in the card shipment. North Star have obviously been mega insaneo busy, so I didn't want to pester them with too many (is it shipped yet is it shipped yet), as well as Frostgrave people they're a huge distributor so tonnes going on there. So all the cards and extra dude people went out yesterday.

Apologies for lack of popping up to answer things, been insaneo busy over here too, two big trade shows in a row, Nickstarters (packing them was a mammoth task), as well as the usual day to day things. Still have tonnes of cool stuff to add to the Frostgrave section.

I haven't read the Lich Lord yet or got any of my own models out (the ones I ordered for me!) partly because of time, but also solidarity, I didn't want to delve in until I'd posted everyone else's first! Last night I managed to catch up with Walking Dead and fall asleep, maybe I'll get a chance today....or tomorrow...

Also came to say I have all the new bits ready to buy, so roll up roll up. Cards are amazing.

According to the RPG dot net thread:

Ruined Ships, 4 Pillars or Pylons, 7 Magic Portals, a special treasure token, a large cauldron, enough walls to make a labyrinth, a six inch magic circle/wheel of doom, 5 corpses, 6-8 Statues.

2 Armoured Skeletons 15 Armoured Skeletons
2 Ghouls 4 Ghouls plus 2 Ghouls per Player
2 Zombies plus another 5 or so

An Impresssive Golem
A Thug
A Human Mage
10 Death Cultists
A Cart
9 Anthropomorphic Reindeer
2 Wraith Knights/ Animated suits of Armour.
3 Frost Wraiths
A Spectre
2 Zombie Trolls
The Ghoul King
3 Banshees

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that they're hedging a tiny bit on the miniatures-agnostic appeal of the game and asked the author tho throw something novel in their to sell some proprietary dudes. Which I can't say I totally begrudge them, it's still a lot more managable than the Corvus Beliy/GW/Wyrd/PP mode where either you have the Official Grim Swordhaver Model Accept No Substitutes if you want to play Grim Swordhaver, or gently caress you.

I think most of them have changed their conversion rules to "50% grim sword haver". So, there's been progress.

Has anyone played a campaign with just two players? I just assume campaigns need more opponents to play right but would this game hold up if it was just two dudes playing quite progressive campaign once in a while?

I think Santa got zapped by a Necromancer's spell gone wild and this is his magically infused reindeer getting revenge.

Hope you're having an amazing day

Right, I'm signed up for a secret santa (not SA, elsewhere) and my recipient has made a note that they play historicals / fantasy the most... I know they've picked up a bunch of frostgrave stuff recently so I figured a bunch of generic monsters would tick the right boxes... so with a ~£10 budget, I need to find some plentiful supplies of gribbly horrible monsters without breaking the bank.

£10 doesn't get you far in terms of models these days, I was half tempted to pick up the two blisters of constructs for them so they have small / normal / large to play around with but not sure if there's better I could do. That would put me slightly over budget but I don't mind spending a couple of quid over.

If you were to receive frostgrave stuff as a secret santa, what would you think was ideal if you'd just bought nothing more than the rulebooks and the expansion and the soldier / cultist box sets?

Any recommendations? :)
