So after that crazy wind, the weather has turned really lovely. Frozen rain right now in 99320/99353. I don't expect any dirt trucks today, the first one of these is usually a huge pain in the rear end.

So started following some Washington fishermen sites and boy goly do they seem to really dislike the native fishermen. Can't wait to start reading more into these politics.

Facebook state fish and game commenters on the official feed so most I'm assuming are just terrible people in general. Some of the more serious commenters had some valid complaints about commercial(that's the same everywhere) and tribal fishermen trying their best to shut out sports anglers. It felt a little odd that people are willing to be so rude in what is comparatively a small community. I had read other forums and while it was much more muted it still felt rather negative. As I understand it natives are the majority gill netters. http://www.gamefishin.com/threads/gillnetters-file-yet-another-suit.45718/ An example. If I'm wrong then that's fine by me.

I thought not recognizing treaties was the norm. How dare those uppity survivors of a subjugated society try to fight for what was theirs.

I see a bunch of fishing/marine discussion. Am I the only one that raided Pacific Marine Expo for goodies? It was like trick or treating for hats, coffee cups, candy, and rulers. I unfortunately missed the lubricant pens. The beer is even free during happy hour!

Yeah, PNW fisherpeople are mostly ignorant, white, and angry about being proud of it. I've had them threaten to come to my house and fistfight me because I said that I thought it would be cool to take a picture of the plates and person of a poacher in the act, and then text them to the authorities. It's less about the fish and more about their cultural heritage as white settlers who feel that native americans are trying to take away their birthright. It was the same thing with the farmers in klamath falls being upset that the fed was cutting off their irrigation water to protect the remaining dregs of salmon, and they still blamed the native population. It's impossible to impart the irony of a white dude claiming his family's 100 year-old claim on land as heritage, and how he then turns around and laughs at a native american who would like that water to keep the fish alive in the river that used to be there. Even if that farmer's an avid fisherman.

So is this proposal from Seattle Subway legit, reasonable and actually has a chance of happening? I'm not an expert here, but it seems to me that any real, long term solution to our traffic issues is going to have to involve linking Snohomish and Pierce counties to Seattle. Am I missing something here, or is this really as awesome as it appears?

If the Sounder ran at proper hours it would solve ALOT traffic issues. I5 is a parking lot into Seattle everyday. Last I checked every time mass transit tries to leave cross counties it's clobbered by petty bullshit.

Speaking of Gorst (since when is that going to happen again), I heard during a traffic report the other day that there had been a fatality accident on Highway 16 there. I don't know what happened but I immediately thought of that terrifying left turn you can take directly off of the highway at the bend.

What keeps pissing me off are the folks who are mad that this won't result in those living in Snohomish/Pierce counties giving up their cars wholesale therefore it's a complete failure. That, or "Everett is to rural and spread out for mass transit" despite lovely traffic, full Park and Ride lots and a popular BRT system. It seems to me that you have to build the infrastructure before people will make changes, not the other way around. Then dense, multi zone development and so on.

Everett always gets hosed on mass transit and I don't understand why. Although now that I check, it seems the new park & ride finally has a direct route from south everett to bellevue. Could've used that three years ago.

I moved to Renton a few years ago. First I find out Jimi Hendrix is from Renton (and buried one block over from me), and just a couple days ago, Caro. Crazy. Did anyone else know that? For anyone who doesn't know, the short version is Caro's a civvie goon who bought himself some gear and flew to Libya to help fight in the revolution, and started doing actual no-poo poo medical field work and fighting on the front lines, and last we know was presumably taken prisoner by I forget who.

Speaking of famous people buried in the Seattle area, Bruce Lee and his son are buried in North Capital Hill at Lake View Cemetery (next to volunteer park). It's a neat site for some Seattle history to pay tribute to another Seattle legend.
