A lot of this comes from travel times no longer being so abstracted - if you're just a moving dot on a 2D map, moving through featureless desert for game days is much more tolerable. I kinda wanna reinstall F1 to see how many game days you're unevently from through (literally) featureless desert from F13 to Shady Sands/V15. I'm frustrated I had to break character with the silver shroud to save kent. That loving SMG is poo poo, even maxed out with all the mods, it's still poo poo. Anyways: McCready is a dick, I can never gain rep with him, and forcing rep gain with him seems buggy.

When you use the console to add rep with a companion it doesn't go through until your next gain or loss. So if you set the value to 750, nothing happens until you pick another lock, which Macready is cool with, then you get the "Macready adores you" pop up and you can talk to him for his poo poo. I tend to console command the affection values because I hate actually travelling with companions, they break stealth all the time and wander around like dumb children. Walking through a vault,Cait just ran off and aggro'd half the vault and kept fighting everything while I was like ten rooms away looting things.

I hosed up the last mission of Silver Shroud by wearing power armor, I think. Kent was already dead when I got there However, this is first time in a Bethesda game where I'm not giving a flying gently caress about stealth. Landing headshots with a semi auto rifle is pretty easy and strangely satisfying. Also, artillery barrage is a great equalizer tool for those annoying entrenched enemy positions. Walk up to an enemy compound or whatever, mark the inside of the wall and toss a grenade for maximum aggro, then retreat back about 100 meters. It's not like reviewers are NOT calling out Bethesda on their issues on the RPG-side of things for once. Or in general really. I mean if we compare how Fallout 3/Skyrim were initially received and Fallout 4, it's clear they're under more criticism this time.

I never broke character, barring that I momentarily retired the Silver Shooter to save Kent. Sinjin got a hot face full of my suped up Deliverer. Also MacCready leaves me divided. On one hand, Little Lamplight has hopefully caught fire by this point. On the other, MacCready turned into a fun guy with nice hair, pretty eyes and absolutely horrible teeth. Its the power armour helmet mod that highlights living targets. For some reason it can make enemies hostile before seeing them, which screws up some scripted events. The same thing will happen when using berry mentats.

It's not the target marker that can make him bug out and go ape on-sight, it seems to be power armor period, not any specific set either.

Power armor definitely has some weird quirks that aggro people for no reason. There's that walled town (covenant?) that immediately started shooting me on sight. Only after killing them did I notice that all of the inhabitants of Assholes-ville had names and were probably not meant to be fighting you.

The thing is if guns feel they suck even if they should be good you need to be pumping points into the damage perks. Five points gets you double damage plus some other advantages. And you can totally do that part with the SS SMG and stay in character. Way I did it after he got shot a couple times was to hit Jet as soon as the dialogue ended, sprint over to the stairs and blast him from the side, starting at the arm. Worked just fine. e- Oh and I found a combat shotgun with the explosive trait. Everything melts before it.

I think my save got jammed. I just completed Tactical Thinking, Blind Betrayal and Liberty Primed, and all of a sudden none of the questgivers will talk to me. Anyone have a console command or something to get things back in order? The last save I have that's not jammed is 20 hours back

I heard a lot of people complaining about the dialogue options in Fallout 4 and it didn't bug me that much for the 80 hours or so I've pumped into the game. That changed when I got to the Institute though. I mean maybe I'm an idiot and missed some optional dialogue but I feel like I couldn't ask about any of the important poo poo. "Have a look around, see what you think of the Institute." *comes back* "Well, now that you've looked around, how about going off and helping a courser retrieve a synth?" Some of the dialogue options you'd get in NV or FO3 or any game with a reasonable dialogue system: -To hell with the courser. Why are you replacing people with synths? What happened to the real mayor of Diamond City? -What were you doing with those FEV experiments? Why were you abducting people from the Commonwealth and turning them into Super Mutants? -How many people have died as a result of the sick poo poo you're doing here? How do you justify this? -Synths are people. They have thoughts and feelings and consciousness. It's inexcusable what you're doing to them. -Desdemona sends her regards. *attack* -Like cowards, you hide in the shadows and send your minions to do your bidding in secret. You terrorize the innocent and feast behind your walls of steel while the world starves. No more, Father. Death has come for you... and I am its Shroud! The dialogue options you're given: Yes, No, Maybe, Synth?
