Actual conversation in the living room watching the Lions kick the Eagles in the teeth with family and inlaws while my sister screamed from her kitchen the turkey wasn't done yet. "I hope when they tear down Joe Louis Arena that loving fist goes too." "What the hell is the deal with that anyway, I mean, it's just a fist." "And why is the fist black?" "Because Joe Louis was black." "OH! You're being racist! That's racist to say that!" And we had a huge bowl of mac and cheese for Thanksgiving. Being able to turn off your cameras, abuse someone, and then get a slap on the wrist is the system working as (the police) intended.

Why do people not expect this behavior from police officers? Cops don't have some special test to make sure their not immoral. in fact you can get turned down because of intelligence.

This was in the south, but still the majority of police officers are not these super smart guys who go solve crimes. Most of them join the police because if you don't have a criminal record its a instant middle class job usually.

You literally didn't read the article. quote:Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took the exam in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125. But New London police interviewed only candidates who scored 20 to 27, on the theory that those who scored too high could get bored with police work and leave soon after undergoing costly training. I even bolded the relevant section for you. Oh the best part: the article continues that a score of ~21 correlates with an IQ of 104, which is above average intelligence. That's kind of the point though. Anyone who really is intelligent isn't going to join a local PD but instead go through Criminal Justice program and maybe join state or federal programs like the DEA etc.. Patrol Officers are generally just average intelligent or below intelligent people.

Cops do not score above average IQ. They're generally the intelligence as the Population. Meaning there's some really smart ones, really dumb ones, and 99 percent are just average. I worked in the south where more were dumb than smart though.
