it's a little specious to say that, cause if you put coal plants through the same level of bureaucratic oversight and wastestream control standards as a nuclear plant, you could probably pipe the smokestacks directly into your house with no ill effects

i wouldn't be all that surprised tbh given the number of diesel trucks and emissions-exempt SUVs out there
