Pan is a legitimately entertaining movie - it's basically a cynical grunge/goth reskin of Stardust, and while it made me roll my eyes dozens of times, it was always with a kind of amazed smile on my face. It is simply too interesting to be bad, especially culturally.

I had bad parents so I had to endure things like seeing Down and Out in Beverly Hills in the theater On the plus side, they did buy a copy of Beverly Hills Cop as their first VHS tape. It cost them $80. e: man, Down and Out in Beverly Hills would make a fantastic episode, I can hear the Nick Nolte impressions already

Maybe this is why it didn't really do it for me, "what if a colorful cartoon for kids is actually dark and hosed up???" is such well-trodden ground on the internet. They even did the "the whole thing is the dying dream of a character who actually die in the first act" thing. Still funnier than the one about Scooby-Doo taking place after an apocalyptic recession which is why there are so many spooky abandoned buildings and they all live in a van and acquiring property is so important to the villains. Or the one about how Ed Edd n' Eddy takes place in purgatory because there are no adults and the kids all seem to come fom different cultures and eras.

Guess I'm gonna watch a Bill & Ted movie for the first time in 15 years! I can't even remember whether I liked them or not, all I know is that the German dub I watched on TV as a kid had really weird translations of their catchphrases.

The Care Bears movies have disturbingly detailed Wikipedia pages, especially the first one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Care_Bears_Movie (drawing on 233 separate sources) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Care_Bears_Movie_II:_A_New_Generation (108 sources) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Care_Bears_Adventure_in_Wonderland (79 sources) They get less detailed as the series goes along, as even the obsessive stopped caring. But now I know that both the first and second movies are based on Goethe, are examples of Christian socialism, and Harry Dean Stanton is Brave Heart Lion's singing voice in the first one. That's actually a remarkably interesting Wiki article. Kinda makes it seem like the Care Bears movie is partly responsible for reviving animated films after Disney hit its 70s/80s slump- not sure if that's true, I tend to hear Roger Rabbit credited more for that, but I can buy it.
