One of the best loyalist legions with good rules and great specialist units? Yeah, you're right, you should play a real (IE- Traitor) legion instead.

Technically, they were the first. :v:

I prefer dark green to black so if I ever wind up actually making a 30k Dark Angels army I'll probably be using it as an accent somewhere. I like the red wings and checker pattern though. Gives the scheme something to work with.

The red mechanicum book. Basically, you lay the 7-inch blast template down, and then move it straight ahead 72". EVERYTHING under it takes a hit, str depending on what sort of model. Infantry takes a S5 hit, monstrous creatures S8, vehicles S10 and superheavies the D. Ignores cover, instant death, do not pass go.

The first round of the game, D weapon shooting at it gains -3 on the damage chart. 2nd round its -2 and 3 round onwards its -1.

Its also sporting three Volkite Culverins for soft targets.

Also I think the template crosses the table regardless of distance. The 72" one is the alternate weapon.

Posters at Warhammer World. And to preempt the question, the new book coming out in February has nothing to do with Thousand Sons/Space Wolves. What's in though is:

New rites for existing legions. Kakophoni-booster for EC, hoarded/stolen/diverted supplies giving SoH limited twin-linked, Iron Warriors charging past their own artillery shells crashing around them. That last one is kind of hilarious.
Legion rules + rite(s) for Blood Angels, Dark Angels, White Scars. Meaning no units, just the basics to run your legion.
Rules for playing as Blackshields (banded loyalists from traitor legions) and Shattered Legions (banded marines of various provenance that have given up or gone rogue).
Rules for Knight-Errants (proto Grey Knights). Not sure if there's more than just Garro planned for the book though.

I hope there's a loyalist Word Bearers Rite. Out of all the rogue members of loyalist legions and loyal members of rogue legions, I find the idea of loyalist Word Bearers the most interesting because the pre-Monarchia Word Bearers would fit in perfectly in the 40k Imperium and indeed be highly lauded for it.

Loyalist Word Bearer legionnaires would be an amazingly smug bunch of I-told-you-so.

Yeah, thought the fluff always stated that every single Word Bearer was converted to Chaos or murdered before the Heresy, hence their Chaplains becoming Dark Apostles and whatnot. An interesting idea but there probably wouldn't be enough of them to fill a Rhino never-mind a fighting force. Would be the smuggest Rhino going though.

I'm gettin real sick of gal vorbak, like 5 or 6 of the local guys getting into heresy are playing word bearers, and they all (obviously) have gal vorbak, and I'm the guy trying to get the community going so I'm playing everyone.

There's already been a loyalist Word Bearer in one of the Horus Heresy novels. According to him, while most of the legion did convert the Emperor-worshipers simply went underground with their cult.

I stand corrected. I haven't really kept up with the Word Bearers as I find them boring as tar, but if they do more with that little loyalist cell I might turn around.

DJ Dizzy posted:

Guessing Hencoe's more sick of facing what's essentially the same list over and over again than his opponents being WAACs. Gal Vorbak are tasty but Plasma deals with them almost as well as it deals with regular Marines, they ain't the cheesiest thing going. Still, it must suck to have a local meta like that, could easily work to stagnate and kill the scene.

Its just a lot of the same stuff, why I'm trying to get more people into it. A lot of folks got the calth set from the local shops and are starting to get their stuff up and running. While its a nice change from up until now where it was only 4 people including myself, in this section of the state that played. Just playing against so many of them gets old. (gal vorbak are cool as hell though.) I've started deliberately bringing varied lists for them all to play against, although its hard to let go of my siege tyrants.

Helping a store in town get a 30k league going so folks have a defined goal to have stuff together and painted, book 6 is going to be a godsend since a few want to play their blood angels, dark angels, white scars and such with more than "stubborn or furious charge"

The same thing is going on in my area with a few peculiar individuals. The Dark Angels guy refuses to play until he gets rules for his Primarch which he insists he's going to take in every game, and the Blood Angel stalwart isn't going to play until he gets official legion rules, mainly because he wants to use his own that have no drawbacks at all (Furious Charge, +1int, Crusader, Counter Attack and re-rolls in challenges). Mostly loyalits armies being select as well (Myself Included :( ), but at least there is a new Word Bearers, Sons of Horus and an Emperor's Children player now. I'll have to start playing my Imperial Fists as Alpha Legion or something.

Helps that they have a pretty neat story in one of the Horus Heresy novels, one of the very few legion-specific units to have actual fluff and story role in any of the books.

Hencoe is actually the WAAC player. "Hen "GO HARD" coe," as he is referred to. The man tries to play the "woe is me" card but introduced 30k locally by playing AdMech (and Volkite) versus my Orks. Just a week or two ago, he played a game against a dude trying out 30k by using his Blood Angels army. Just mercilessly crushed the poor bastard, didn't even let him know that you can take a Dreadnought Talon. I think Hencoe lost two Terminators and a handful of Marines versus literally everything else in the guy's army.

Hencoe posted:

Look at this poo poo. The man is running out of victims, and he's so desperate for fresh meat that he's making a league to bait in new players. Hundo for a new box of Calth and then league entry is all you need to get tabled by Iron Warriors as Hencoe complains the entire time about how bad his Legion is.

What I'm getting at is that Hencoe is a bad man. :colbert:

(I am working hard on my Alpha Legion so that I may walk in the footsteps of the immortal Stanyer89, PBUH. Last time I played Hencoe and lost I ricocheted a Bloodletter off of him and into the corner of the store. S'good shot.)

Hencoe seems like a cool dude too. Like a true Iron BroHam he hates himself and his legion, shedding a single tear of self loathing each time he curbstomps a 16 year old with an unpainted Calth army :usa: He'd get along well with Panascope who once trolled a kid so hard at an FLGS that they started screaming loudly and left the store.
